The Crown Princess could have been a nice person...she was just too spiteful/hateful. Reminds me of Erqing from Yanxi Palace. Both might not have a happy marriage but it would have been a peaceful one if they weren't so filled with envy. Both their husbands are nice people. So even if their hearts belonged to another woman, they'd still treat their wives well.
