I am Malaysian Chinese and married a Greek guy who speak Swedish and Greek. But we speak English for daily life. I did pick up a few Greek when he speaks with our children. I don't think it's a problem if we don't know each other native language as long as we understand each other.
I speak Japanese and Taiwanese with my girlfriend. I don’t think learning language from partner is efficient. But it does give me more motivation to learn Japanese.

Geeat video. Especially the culture part. Listening with an open heart helps to detect if a discussion is about cultural or character things. The VISA process in Germany is a little ugly as it requires to learn german and to make a test (A1) before be able to apply a visa,. That means month and month of learning german. And marriage is required. It is expensive, mostly the flight tickets. I also made the experience that we wanted to enjoy our time together and show each other’s country which causes some bonus expense. Paper work for marriage is also an interesting part. I had to explain one time the difference between China and Taiwan to an one old guy in the German government. No matter it‘s worth it.

It is a really useful video for me. I'm a hong konger having a long-distance relationship with my Taiwanese girlfriend. And I am having my working VISA for 3 yrs in Taiwan to make sure we are not in a shorter distance relationship. I really enjoy watching your video. Culture is too different, not only country culture, but the family culture also.
I totally understand you guys , because my boyfriend is Italian, so ... He don't want move to Taiwan, I have to move to Italy. And, yes, like your wife said, before you live together, for distance relationship must have money. And in the end, I got student visa first(but here still need pay lot of money for language school), and after one year, lucky me, now Italy finally have partner visa. But still took long time for every document, and now because of the virus, all the thing is stop... So I don't know can I get partner visa as soon as or no. And about language, my boyfriend never speak Italian to me,we speak English, but he's parents don't understand English,so..for me is necessary learn Italian if I need stay in Italy. Taiwanese I think is more kind,if you can't speak Chinese, but they still try to understand you . 恭喜你們,這一切真的不容易。

Luna Yen For the language part, I am in the similar situation as you 😆 My Italian bf usually speaks English with me, and his parents can not understand any English at all, so the same, if we will be together in the future, I need to learn Italian in order to live in Italy... I still live in Taiwan and he is living in Italy now, also due the virus, we can not meet this year... Long distance relationship is really challenging, you are already in Italy now? Wish all the best for you and stay healthy :)
I believe to learn the language for communication between the two countries is not easy, I personally feel is a culture different, also the family background, people are saying love each other is easy but hard to fit in other countries backgrounds. Even the same language-lovers same culture will have an issue also. Glad for both you found each other in other nations.
That brown piggy is sooo cute and it likes u so much so adorable!

The partner visa in Australia has basically the same process as Sweden; but in Australia, you have to wait for 2 years after you submitted your application to be interview because the immigration department wants to make sure that you guys are still together. A friend of mine went through the process.
my mum is from Hong Kong and my dad is from Korea. My dad can understand Cantonese but he can't speak Cantonese correctly (more than 20 years already lol) . They communicate in English and I have 3 first languages =.= hahahahhh
