Well yesterday he wasn't so happy to come back to Poland... A driver with this thinking approach can't be successful and he gets what he was praised for. Glad I'll no need to see him until Sunday there.

Deer are fkers. I met 3 on the A54 one night, pitch black, all three stood in the middle of the dual carriageway. 83mph is enough to scare you when you have to literal fling the steering wheel and feel the car struggling to stay on the road. At least he is OK. You don’t want to be suddenly wearing a deer at 120mph.

I suspect he didn’t hit the animal at 180-190 kph otherwise the damage would’ve been way worse. He probably braked as soon as he saw the thing coming and managed to reduce the impact speed a bit?

I live in a area with a high population of deer. Stupidest creatures alive. Only animal I have experienced that will jump into your car rather than away from it. I have hit 8 in the past 20 years. Really sucks. They do a lot of damage.

WRC has an animal welfare problem. Thierry killed a dog in Portugal, EP killed two birds and a zebra in Kenya and now Ott has struck a deer. And these are the incidents we know about. None of these accidents were the drivers’ fault. This is down to local authorities and the organisers. It’s clearly very unfortunate for the animals. If it isn’t curtailed a driver or co-driver could be seriously hurt.

Deer through the windshield at highway speeds can easily kill. Ott was doing 189 kph / 118 mph. He and his co-driver are very lucky to survive that crash. Sounds like the front end of the car was light enough at the moment of crash that the deer carcass went under the car and not through the windshield.
