It's named "Hym" on the album itself, so I left it like that. But yes, it's most likely a misspelling of "hymn" - most Japanese aren't very good at English, I'm afraid.

Once I found a song very similar to this but I forgot by whom or what it was called. Something about ash and/or snow, and it sounded structurally like Yuy had taken inspiration from it or possibly vice-versa

found it! Ashes in the Snow, by MONO. Released 2009, whereas this album was published in 2010. I'd be fascinated to know if Yuy intentionally made "that song, but a touhou version of it", or maybe Yuy is just the screen name of someone from MONO or something. Either way they're both really cool pieces of music
