He loosing his voice?
@superlukey35 жыл бұрын
@@sigui.habana It's possible but I doubt it. Good unclean vocals involve generating sound using more than just your vocal chords. I'm no expert but if I recall from something I read a while ago, super awesome death metal screams are from manipulating your true vocal folds, false vocal folds, nasal passages, and something else I can't recall. It's a similar technique to Tibetan Throat Singing and is not the same as just growling until your throat gives out. I could be wrong on some of these points but the takeaway is, if you do it right, your vocal chords shouldn't be in too much danger as far as I know.

Owh man! Heri's Voice has gotten gritty! Love the aggression... This band are always familiar, but pushing their music slightly further with each album. I sure miss the progressive days of Land and Eric The Red, but the sense of melody and drive is undeniable in this track. And WHAT a solo! About time these guys came back from the dead ❤️

I wasn't sure how much I was going to like the vocals here since I typically prefer the more traditional Faroese songs, rather than the English ones, but I was pleasantly surprised by the tone of Heri's voice on this one. It sounds rougher and perhaps a bit less soaring than in the past (which I can only attribute to the 6-year gap since Valkyrja) but I really quite enjoy that. The drums, bass, guitar, and vocals all excel here in my eyes. It's not quite the return to the melodies of Eric the Red that I had hoped, but this is more what I realistically expected. Seems to be more of a stylistic mash of the last 2 albums with some Ragnarok thrown in, and that's perfectly fine with me. More than happy Týr's finally back!

2019 - New releases: Tyr, Overkill, Rhapsody of Fire, Iron Savior.....good year for some new metal goodies!
If you want disappointment, you should've heard'em in Dallas yesterday. The mics weren't setup very well for them for that venue. Lizzy Borden's sound setup was even worse. Demons and Wizards were fine. I guess 3rd time's the charm for the sound check guy... That concert was my introduction to both bands. Now, I'm just looking them both up. So far, both bands have been pretty fun. The venue really didn't do them justice.

I feel the same here as I feel about Alestorm when it comes to their music since Back Through Time, this direction Tyr took since the 2011 album is good, having more emphasis on the more melodic aspects of their music, but, thanks to that, the repetitive and never changing core song structure is much better perceived and there's no real compensation for that lack of depth, I like The Lay of Thrym but I feel I been listening to that same album since, both in Valkyrja and this song, even if Valkyrja was less energetic. Hope the album is great, but we'll see, Cheers to the band, hope I can get into this album

To be honest: I have this feeling about almost every Metalband lately....they're obligated to release an Album every two years, so they most likely don't have the time to experiment with new sounds..
@virunusgaming84556 жыл бұрын
I always felt like Valkyrja was just a lesser version of Lay of Thrym. Nothing in it stood out, some bits felt like bland copies, and something about Thrym felt more polished in general to me. This song here has me more interested than anything on Valkyrja, but it's not mindblowing or anything, so I'll be curious to hear a couple more songs from the album.

Pretty energetic and modern sounding song with the Tyr feel we all love. Should open them up to newer audiences that might not be into the slower folk ballads with a longer build up. Not everyone wants to wait around for Land to finish lol. Can't wait for the album!

A bit of a tangent, but what makes a folk band a folk band? Is there an official definition for that? I always see Tyr lumped in with Folk Metal bands but as far as the music is concerned it never felt particularly folky to me, outside of a couple specific songs and maybe some of their way older stuff. Obviously they run with the viking imagery (and sometimes lyrics, especially older albums) but that's not really the music itself.

[Verse 1] Disharmony - tolling for our destiny Standing on the shore Prepare for the war! So discouraging - staving off the suffering When no one else is there You conquer your despair [Pre-Chorus] Say its name - and find your aim Death - come give me fame [Chorus] Wielding fire and flame Sowing your pain Scorching giant Victorious shine the gods of the slain From my burning blade [Verse 2] Disheartening - smoldering serenity Over throw Unjust My heart has turned to dust So dishonoring - lonely spirits flickering There fell a shooting star Alone somewhere afar [Pre-Chorus] Cold and grey - some distant day Death - take me away! [Chorus] Wielding fire and flame Sowing your pain Scorching giant Victorious shine the gods of the slain From my burning blade [Pre-Chorus] Say its name - and find your aim Death - come give me fame [Chorus] Wielding fire and flame Sowing your pain Scorching giant Victorious shine the gods of the slain From my burning blade

You can certainly hear musical progression since Valkyrja. There are some seriously gnarly riffs in this jam. It's just tough to continue to mold a voice like Heri's because it's too damn unique. A blessing and a burden in my opinion. Song gets 3.5 out of 5 hot wet kisses.
