It seems that the show was on a tight schedule, they didn't get to swim in the ancient Cleopatra pool on top of the Cotton Castle/Pamukkale. For additional 50Lira, you can swim in a warm ancient pool covered with sunken pillars from ancient time. During July, you can avoid the heat and the crowds by going to the Cotton Castle around 4pm, the Cleopatra pool close at 8.45pm, you can watch sunset while swimming in the pool overlooking the city bellow. The security guards didn't rush everyone to get out, people can slowly walk barefoot downhill at 9.30pm. There were a few who wore socks to lesson the foot pain, so maybe you can bring a pair of thick socks since no shoes are allow. Other interesting ancient sites nearby is Laodicea, almost 2,300 years old was also home to one of the Seven Churches of Revelation, looks similar to Ephesus. There is a mini underground Pamukkale hot springs and also Karahayit red hot spring, frequent by the locals only, you can pay $55 for a private driver to take you around for 4 hours to these different sites. Anyone visiting Turkey can consider buying the all Turkey museum pass for 315LIRA for 15 days, it allows you to enter to 95% of the famous big & small museums all over Turkey, and you don't need to stand in line at each museum to buy tickets. You can buy the pass at all major museums, I bought it at Ephesus.
