Saw T Rex in concert Spring 1972 at the DAR Auditorium in Washington DC (can’t remember the exact date; America was their opener). Summertime Blues was their encore song. To me, the best rendition of that song…….(and I love the original by Eddie Cochran). Remember well those days, going to all the record stores looking for the latest (and oldest) T Rex and Tyrannosaurus Rex albums and 45s. He, they, was, were something very special to me in my youth……..

What an absolutely fantastic performance of a rock n roll classic. Marc was a man so far ahead of his time, he would have given Bowie a run for his money if he had lived longer. RIP Marc... your music & poetry will never die.
@franklinloll22293 жыл бұрын
Uh no. He was a 3 chord, always slightly off key wunderkind. Fun to watch and hear because he was unique. The odd quivering vocals was actually indicative that eventually his weak vocal chords wouldve given out.

Love T. Rex. Discovered them 20-odd years ago, although i had heard Bang A Gong on the radio occasionally before that. Maybe one subconscious reason i like them is because they did so much in 1972, the year i was born. They pretty much defined glam rock, along with Bowie.
@velolawca Жыл бұрын
I can do worse. As a 1973, I just discovered the depth of his genius this past year and now I find it hard to listen to anything else. "You're dirty sweet and you're my girl" is going to feature in a tattoo for me sooner rather than later. For a guy whose lyrics were often gibberish that just sounded great, what a turn of phrase that remains.

The sad irony is that the Late Great Eddie Cochran was killed in a car accident in Britain just like the Late Great Marc Bolan. He does a good version of this classic song. I guess you just can’t escape your fate. If you’re destined to die in a car crash then there’s no way to avoid it. Bolan didn’t even drive or have a drivers license. And Eddie wasn’t driving either. They were both passengers. RIP Eddie and Marc- Two Rock n Roll Greats!

Poor Mickey...always on those bloody bongos.(which are faint at the best of times here). Those percussion instruments had a purpose in the first incarnation of Tyrannosaurus ReX,but later got burried deep in the miX,and Finn became just another foil for Bolan to react to.
