Vinyl cutters can cut very intricate designs but the more complicated the design, the longer it will take to weed out the bits of the left over vinyl. You would also need to break up the design into different colours and apply them individually. I would possible use a transfer paper for a muli coloured design.

finally got press, printer and recommended transfers :) Getting a slight crease around image, do you think it's the presser, I'm using 190 for the temp so that shouldn't be a problem.

yes but there are different vinyls for different fabrics because a lot of new type sportswear is very thin and stretchy so you need special vinyls for these. most standard t shirts are 100% cotton.

it's probably the transfer paper you are using. As long as you are pressing with a decent press at med-heavy pressure for 30 sec at 190 deg C, the paper is the variable I can't comment on.

polyester shirts are done using sublimation. if it peels off check your temp, pressure and duration. It sounds like it needs to be on the press longer.

The prints look very clean. Would you suggest these are better than typical ink, silk screen printing etc? I am writing to you from the USA. Also the health wise of not breathing in the fumes of the conventional screen print i would think this is better. Do these wash out quickly etc? How much are your one day camps? Thanks

how are you pressing the vinyl. you need a good quality heat press at the right temp and pressure. i print on all types of t shirt but mainly 100 percent cotton.

Hi Martin, Is it mainly clothing vinyl's and 3G Opaque Dark transfer paper that you run through the cameo cutter or in your experience have you used any other materials?

Mark McCann You can use these cutters for many different things. They can cut card and also have a pen attachment where you can draw intricate plans. There is a list of different materials you can use in the cutter dropdown menu in the software. A lot of people use the cutter to make stencils. Cheers Martin

It's probably your heat press. Is it a cheap one? if so, the heating elements probably have hot spots.

+Vlad Piero Yes, there are many types of vinyl to cater for many different types of clothing. It's not a matter of being better, it's a different type of finish that is suited to each application. Vinyl's are great for single colour letters,images and logo's where as sublimation and transfer printing is ideal for multi colour graphics and pictures. Cheers Martin

This is standard white clothing vinyl, 150 degrees C temp and 15 seconds heat time and cold peel. The t shirts are 100% cotton. Regards

I use a basic clothing vinyl called MDP Flex. It is a cold peel product that applies at 150 degrees C for 15 seconds. Cheers Martin

You can print as many colours as you like on transfer paper but if you are talking about vinyl's, you need to create different layers of your image in photoshop and create registration marks so you can line them up on your garment. Beginners should keep it simple until you master the cutter and a bit of photoshop. Cheers Martin

Its best not to go cheap on the cutter. The Roland GX24 is a workhorse and will cut detail for years.

I personally wouldn't use sublimation for t shirt printing as the inks are so dear. I'd get an Epson 1500W printer with dye based inks as I show in my other vids and my tutorial dvd. The other gear is fine. Cheers Martin

Hi Liam, Subliblanks dropped the Neptune from their range as it didn't perform very well. You really need a minimum of 15x15 heat press for t shirt printing. Cheers Martin

cyigen85 i have a Silhouette Cameo by Graphtec and it a great cutter. Do not buy a cheap heat press. Buy something like a Stahl. Cheap ones dont have proper element placement in the heat plate and will give you trouble. Regards Martin

I think the silhouette cameo is a little small for me. I was really thinking about getting the "Roland stika 15", but i was also afraid that it would be small for me. What do you think? should i go for the stika or get a bigger one in a cheaper brand? remember i will only use it for making shirts.. and thx i finally found a cheap stahl, but i was wondering if you knew something about this product: secabo tc5, becuase it has new features like auto opening when the heating is finnished. and the price is like the cheapest stahl heater(but stahl does not have that function)
