Choke is a long pause between bars where a battler needs time to recover from where he/she forgot their next line or a battler completely forgetting or not finishing the rhyme. A stumble with a quick recover are slip ups and never was a big deal until them major chokes started. I don’t count them.

As for SM7, one of the issues that these rappers experienced like O-Red, was that they experienced what we call "Las Vegas Throat". I'm from San Diego and we live in a tropical area, so it is more moisture in the air, Las Vegas is a dry climate with lots of sand dust in the air. The very first time that I went to Las Vegas, I experienced Las Vegas Throat and one of the competitors there explained to me what my problem was and then he gave me an over the counter tea called Throat Coat. The penalties should be: If you choke a round you don't get booked for the next event. If you choke badly by forgetting more than one of your rounds, you don't get booked for the next two events. If you have a sloppy performance with a lot of UNFORCED slip-ups, you don't get high profile match-ups. If you no show without a valid reason you won't be on the next major event. And it should be mandatory for all battle rappers to PROMOTE their battles.
