All elephants should be released in their natural habitats after rehabilitation. Elephants are eco engineers and they preserve forests and Savannah and prevent mud sliding and devastating floods and stabilise climate.

The modern two-day event includes a variety of shows displaying the physical prowess and skill of the animals, such as soccer games and tugs of war with the Royal Thai Army. Elephants painting pictures, playing polo, and whirling hula hoops on their trunks are also incorporated into the show. Numerous floats are put on display. The venue for the event, Si Narong Stadium, has been dubbed the "world's largest domestic elephant village" by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

@@dorothythomas4363 if you are talking about elephant trainers , first of all I would not like to be one. But supposing I had become one without realising the horrors involved , I would be glad to retire with or without a pension. If you are talking about the elephants going back to their forests , I think they would love to go back to the forest and be free of chains , ankush etc and lead a normal life. The elephants should be left in sanctuaries where they can be divided into groups belonging to different elephant corridors and be left in enclosed spaces where they can forage for themselves till they form into herds. Then each herd can be released one by one in their own elephant corridors and monitored for a while.
