One thing from the real world that limits thermals in tarkov is that each thermal optic's screen has a certain fps somehwere around 30hz to 60hz, depending on the thermal. This means that there's lag between what's happening and what you see through the thermal. It makes it so that even with the 1x thermals, you're at a disadvantage in close quarters.

I think this is great. Maybe now on people begin to use thermals properly. You don't need to run full thermal all the raid. Just use it to spot enemies, take it off and fight. Days of camping in a corner with T7 and M61 are over (I hope)

A good update to make the thermals user-friendly, would be that it would be possible to add side iron's or fix the 1-4x scope, the scope has ironsight on top that is usable only on mobile. After this update there will be less overall thermal users, but thanks to the nerf, the thermal is good in every map, wound be surprised if i see a thermal team blinding other thermals with smokes in Tv station.

@@cliffnocks1928 this is a game based on realism, that's why you have elements such as realistic granade damage, flash bangs, food, drugs etc. thermals shouldnt be so broken like complete black and white easy to distinguise players/npcs from the environment, there are hotspots of high temperature that should be shown but not the whole profile full white including the weapon. unless it produced heat. limbs shouldnt be the same white as the rest of the body. watch some drone videos with thermal camera to understand how thermals work.

I added an easier hotkey for putting up the thermal. Can still use sights, biggest nerf is the time it takes to bring up the Goggles but you can do it while zooming in cutting time.

I was getting so tired of getting sniped by someone with thermals from far away in valley at normal. its kind of crazy how many people use thermals on normal mode, or come decked out with t5 gear. I think the game would be fine without thermals to begin with, so anything that nerfs them is something I like. i get that they exist in real life and are just as effective, but from a gameplay perspective its just a ridiculous advantage to have in the game.

I wouldn't be angry at all if they removed the thermal goggles from the game. Thermal optics are perfectly adequate. I would also remove all T6 ammo from the game and leave only T5. Almost every game someone kills me in a new T6 helmet(motorcycle, Blast) with m62 rounds and one shot. The game writes the iconic "low armor pierced" note and I rage. The ammo and body armor mechanics work so horribly random. Yesterday I was killed by a player who was using regular LPS rounds in a Mossin rifle, and my Altin helmet thought it was a powerful round... And the game was over. One shot and a million koen worth of equipment was... I agree that this nerf is a step in the right direction, but I fear for the mental health of the developers lest they succumb to the cries of children and streamers who will cry a lot. I'm already shedding floods of tears at the ABI videos in the comments section about how much this nerf is too much for Thermal.

I think nerf is a good thing, BUT: They should make them unable to see through glass, Make thermal scope 1x/4x. I have no idea how you supposed to use it NOT camping from far away(Maybe make animation of switch longer for balance), Add different "levels" of thermals, for example: monocular or for two eyes, and the most expensive that can automatically turing off when you entering scope(As i know there prototypes in real life) Also it could be in different working range or interference level (Range: Medium, Inereference: Low, Field of view: low) Will be great with NVG for night maps in future

So stupid to have these in game. Especially if you then have to nerf them into the ground. Kinda seems like having this stuff in game is a real-cheater buffer, it creates uncertainty with the player base.. was it a cheater? or was it thermals? Keeps the players guessing and keeps the game from appearing it has an obvious cheater problem. At the end of the first beta, me and my friend used them for the last day to spend our money and it absolutely ruined the game for us. Then the real money stuff kicked in on the next release... We loaded in, got smoked by thermals... haven't played since. One of the MANY reasons that players prefer early-wipe in these games..
