Great to see a video like this with original sound in HD. Thanks for posting it. Reminded me of my Navy days (Royal Australian Navy) and a ride I got in a Shit-Duck back in 1982 just before Bob Hawk scrapped the fleet Air arm (bastard!). Best ride in a jet I've ever had, never forget it.

I originally was assigned to A-4's but I was too big so the Marine Corps made me an A-6 driver , my shoulders were too damn wide for that narrow cockpit . Even in the A-6 the BN would complain from time to time when he would catch an elbow .

I also asked this on the A-4 forum. As I recall, at 1g, the aerodynamic slats begin to come down at around 200 kias and are fully extended at about 150 kias. I notice, on final, the right slat is barely out and on the rollout, it is fully retracted until about 80 kias or so, and then it drops down. Have these slats been modified?

Yes, but you didn't have to pay for your own maintenance then!

Hi Skyhawk. Did you need special permission to land at NAS North Island? Great vid by the way. Thanks also for not making it into a music video :)

I think your criticism is unfair. It's one thing to be in a military aircraft with an ejection seat, and Uncle Sam's maintenance and another thing to be a private owner of an almost antique jet (without an ejection option) landing by special permission at a NAS facility. I would think you would tend to fly a bit more conservatively. At least i would.
@justinrein5105 жыл бұрын
@@Doones51 Why is there no ejection option?
@Aabuscap5 жыл бұрын
I have to agree. You would have to have a death wish to fly this single engine airplane without an ejection seat because, without one, if it quits off the departure end, unless you have another 6 to 7k’ MINIMUM runway right in front of you...you’re going to die. No ifs, ands or buts.
