My favourite sensei. His timing and control never cease to amaze me. Too bad I never had the chance to train with him. Thanks for putting this online.

When he took your arm (Katate) you had the feeling being locked in an bench vice. He was like made of steel.

it's a sign of respect and means "i'm not going to harm you and i'm giving you my head, you can trust me." you bow to your practice partners, to your sensei's and they bow to you too. Students bow to lower than teachers/senseis. In the old times sensei's doesn't necessarily know the students by person they're teaching to.Some random students or enemies can attend their lessons too. That's because he doesn't bow as low as his students. The guy in the photo, Morehei Ueshiba the founder of Aikido>

Are you from a slavic country? Just asking 'cause you laugh with 'x's. As for bowing to a photo, it's a Japanese martial art, so they have elements of Japanese culture in it. I don't think it's any more unusual for them to bow to a photo than to wear the clothes they are wearing during practice. As for asking 'what crap is this?', this is one of the best aikido practitioners ever, and if you don't like aikido, might I ask why you are watching an aikido video?
