OMG only took me 66 years to find out that my childhood crush was the singer of songs I listened to all the time just before the Beatles changed everything.

In this era, teen heart-throbs like Hunter were often encouraged to release songs to cement their appeal with the teenage audience. Hunter was not a trained singer, but his version of "Young Love" and this song helped to propel his career. Likewise, singers such as Elvis Presley, Fabian Forte and Connie Francis were often turned into actors to capitalize on their popularity. To make it big in 1959, it took more than a nice face -- you had to be versatile.

He was so handsome. He had many fine movie roles. He did not have a great voice...the lower register wss painful. But the public loved him.

I didn't find anything wrong with the singing and definitely not painful for me.

Such obvious lip synching. But who was paying attention to that? It's very interesting how there is a strong resemblance with Jay North (Dennis the Menace) even though they were years apart age-wise. It shows whenever Tab is smiling.

I wonder if he was "friends" with Johnny Mathis?
@stephenperretti88475 ай бұрын
No. He had a secret relationship with Anthony Perkins. Tab discusses it in detail in his autobiography..

If he had taken some voice lessons, he would have been pretty good!
