You say? Remember that the materials were completely different. Meanwhile, if you are a young player, who started when the balls became plastic, playing with cellulose balls and much smaller ones would create problems for you. and I repeat, remember that in the 30s / 50s the rackets did not have your beautiful and super technological rubbers, but indescribable material that covered the blade.

Current top players with sandpaper covered could beat amateur rubber players easily, those in 1930s could play better no matter what technical framework they had.

I doubt it very much.

While I don't think that you are **that** good, people used to celluloid balls and sandpaper bats *would* So if you aren't a pro pingpong player, you probably wouldn't stand a chance even if you play table tennis regularly 😢

@@Get-Rekt u r correct , but I'm a semi pro so if i was using my racket i will win for sure If I was using the equipment at that time the chances of me winning are a bit low

Surprisingly the 1970's footage had better quality than 1980, 1990 and some of the 2000's footage haha
@tren133 Жыл бұрын
70s and earlier footage might be shot on film, while 80s and 90s were probably on videotape. Film can be remastered into high def but tape cannot. Same reason original Star Trek can be made to look really good, but 90s Trek like Deep Space 9 will actually look worse, because much of it was done on tape, and it would cost astronomical amounts of money to try to remaster something like DS9 from its original film stock.

Vladi is one of those gentlemen players from the 30s. Both playing beautifully.

Personally, I think that Ichiro Ogimura, who formulated the theory of table tennis, and Zhuang Zedong, who established the front-row fast attack, were major turning points in the history of table tennis. Of course, this is in addition to the advances in equipment.
@benthekeeshond545 Жыл бұрын
Ogimura was a legend. Great player also. So was Zhuang Ze Dong. However, Zhuang did not pioneer the strategy of engaging the ball's rising phase. Instead, Zhuang was the pupil of this revolutionized strategy introduced by Master Rong Guo Tuan. Credit to Zhuang, he was a great student and won 3 WTTC Singles. Chinese Table Tennis as well as modern-day TT strategy all started with the great and magnificent athlete, Rong Guo Tuan. It is fair to say the success of Chinese Table Tennis was built by Rong. Ironically, he was indirectly coerced into committing suicide by the Great Communist Revolution of China. After Rong, sadly, his name is hardly mentioned in Chinese Table Tennis. I am not sure if Ma Long or Fan Zhen Dong are aware of the misfortune of Rong Guo Tuan or his accomplishments in Table Tennis.

The most successful player between 2000 to 2010 was Wang Liqin. He won 3 WTTC Singles.
