Hey there! I watched the video several times and tried to do a summary with several questions :-) Sum up: Receive late (topspin or backspin): We go against the spin. Receive early (right after the ball hits the table): We can receive it in any way (when it is backspin). We can receive it parallel (I guess he means the rubber has no angle to the baseline of the table) with follow spin or against spin. Another short sum up: Receive late: Against spin. Receive early: Against spin and follow spin both work, but not if it is topspin; then we must go with the spin. Now it is topspin and we want to drop short, we must follow the spin-but not sideways (what does "not sideways" mean and why not?). Does he mean I have to rub the ball, say, "flat"? Not on the left or right side while following the spin (right side when we face reverse sidespin) because the ball flies out? We have to forcefully go with the spin and move the racket in the direction back to front (forward), is that right? So, block the forward motion of the ball. Another question regarding receiving sidespin with a drive/loop/flick: Do the pros loop back nearly 100% of the time with the spin? Are there moments when they go against the spin? E.g., a hook serve to the forehand and we approach with our backhand to flick - is Fan Zhendong always going with the spin in these situations? Does he want to tell us something about when the spin is not strong? That we could/should neutralize it (5:18)? First demonstration: Reverse sidespin (topspin or backspin). He receives late and follows the spin - not correct (2) - late receive should always go against the spin. Second demonstration: It’s the same, and he now receives late again but against the spin - correct (1). Third demonstration: Side topspin. He goes against the spin, and it is not correct (2). Is he receiving late here? Then it should be correct because late receive is against the spin. Is he receiving early here? Then not correct (2) should be the case because we can go either way when receiving early and it’s backspin. When it’s topspin and we receive early, we should go with the spin. So, I guess in the third demonstration, he receives early? Could somebody check, if my sum up is correct and answer the questions? thx in advance :-)

this video is my early translation, some of them is not so good,Receive early: follow or again spin, is for side spin ,not top or under,Pros don't always follow the spin when performing a backhand flick because they have the skill to handle it. You can try it yourself-following the spin with a backhand flick is generally easier. The same applies to the forehand; if the conditions allow, following the spin can provide better accuracy.

first, thank you for all of your videos. i've learned and picked up good tips from you guys. i was particularly in this video about spins and i like the idea you used the basketball for your demonstration. i think this video could be improved by slowing down the english translation in the audio. it's speacking too fast and too many hand movements to follow at the same time and you're describing too many types of spins. maybe just focus on two and make a separate video for other spins. this is just my opinion. thank you again for teaching us and make us a better table tennis player.

@zarpeez8887 I am always looking for Xu Xin videos to help me understand how he plays and grip, so I can emulate it and learn. This is the best for seeing his grip, albeit no instruction/coaching: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npbTfmyBd7ShiLc

That is very good but why they didn't show how to answer Sidespin they showed only the reverse. I understood the method all the time against spin but if they show sidespin also from a left-handed person will be a great video.
