Hello Kazuhiko, Thank you so much for leaving this note and your feedback. Tableau is a great tool that I use almost daily in work, and I love working with it. I wish you all the best in this data journey - I am sure you will find it both exciting and fulfilling working in this space! All the best, Donabel

I came here to work on a project, but I ended up spending over an hour with this content. As I practiced, I realized I was learning everything from scratch with a deeper conceptual understanding. The more I explore your contents, the more intriguing I find it. This is one of the best and most important conceptual resources for Tableau beginners. Kudos to you!

Thank you so much!!!👍 What an informative tutorial! ☄Requests: 1. Can you please emphasize the usefulness of "Reference Lines" in vizzes? 2. How to design a dashboard in the floating mode? 3. How to export vizzes to PowerPoint for presentations? Thanks again!👍
@sqlbelle4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mustapha! Will definitely include these points in additional videos, but in general: 1. Reference lines provide baseline and context, so they can be helpful in understanding the numbers in your graphs 2. Happy to go over some dashboard tutorials with floating components 3. File > Export as PowerPoint - but some words of caution. Have to be careful and need to evaluate what you are losing when you do this. Always going to be a tradeoff. Thank you for watching and for your comments!

Awesome quick way of creating word cloud using Tableau. I was thinking along the lines of Twitter, if I extract twitter tweets and load it into tableau to create a word cloud to show most common words, but does Tableau support unstructured data (text) or does the data have to be structured in rows and column format ? Thanks!
@sqlbelle3 жыл бұрын
Hello Nishi - thank you for your comment. You will still need to prepare the data, using tools like Tableau Prep, Excel Power Query, or scripting language like Python to split up the words so we can visualize and analyze in Tableau.
@StockSpotlightPodcast3 жыл бұрын
Or R, which to me is the easiest since it's free haha but Tableau connects to text files

I love Bubble Charts - those people are crazy ha! Although, what I call Bubble Charts are actually 3D Scatter Plots. At work, we visualize this with sales as the size of the bubble. What you show as Bubble Charts would be useful if you wanted to see something such as impact of expenses on total expenses.
@sqlbelle3 жыл бұрын
I find it's very effective with engaging some types of audiences. A bubble chart can catch people's attention, and once they're interested, we can show more ... traditional charts :)

Thank you David. You can use a filter dashboard action to do that. You can select which field values you want to pass (if you don't want the default). Here is a reference: help.tableau.com/current/pro/desktop/en-us/actions_filter.htm#understanding-available-target-fields

Video Suggestion: A quick guide on how you format charts and dashboards before sending it to clients or a boss. From what I've gathered Tableau is the best at telling stories very quickly. But the formating options are clunky, it's probably because I don't understand them well enough.
@sqlbelle4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Daniel, will do. But you are right, Tableau is great for visualizing, exploring and really interactive dashboards. There will be challenges if you will be sharing Tableau in a different format (for example, if in PDF or PowerPoint). It is really best consumed as an interactive display (either on Tableau Reader or Tableau Online or Server), but will be happy to put together some tips and tricks on sharing Tableau dashboards in different formats. Thank you again for your comment :) much appreciated!
@Hooleey4 жыл бұрын
@@sqlbelle I think that's also very important. My apologies though because I don't think I said it well enough. I'm talking about making your final product (Dashboards and Charts) look good and easy to navigate. I know that the most important part is the data and what you're trying to say. I can't help but want to make it look a little cleaner than the default settings. Do you have any design tips to make them look a little more client-facing? Hope that makes more sense. And Thank you!
@sqlbelle4 жыл бұрын
@@Hooleey Thank you and appreciate all the responses and clarifications :) Yes, I will plan to have some dashboard videos and incorporate some tips and tricks to polish the dashboards. I'll probably dedicate a few videos for this series. Some tips though right off the bat (which I will mention in the videos as well): - getting the client's colors for branding (possibly creating a palette specifically for your client) - cleaning up gridlines, unwanted tooltips (ie turning them off for certain sections) - adding typical components (like logo, data source, date last updated etc) - Sometimes, adding some text instructions can help (depending on how familiar your client is with Tableau) Thanks again for this suggestion! Will definitely plan to have this video :)

I've tried to do a word cloud, however it instead displays as a tree map. I'm using the sample superstore dataset and I've used the blue pill dimension "product name" for text, as well as the green pill "Quantity" for size. I've attempted substituting "Quantity" for "Profit" as well as "Sales" but neither provide a word cloud - they all display as a tree map. Any ideas on why this could be?
