The social conflicts rules are very useful if you have a group of players that abuse there willpower rerolls a lot and want them to think harder about what is worth rerolling or not. They have no idea if a social conflict will come out and put there willpower in danger so there going to be smarter with there willpower ..... I have a player that has 8 willpower ranks/dots, this man almost never fails cuz he willpowers everything. But its also useful to make a social conflict a little more dramatic and gives a clear "fair" winner in more complicated social events, like if you break the masquerade and need to please the prince enough not to put you out in the sun by giving long complicated favors and general mind games.

My personal best way of deciding if a SC (social conflict) should start is to decide if the goals of the players and SPC are in complete conflict, and how tense that conflict is. Exp: Players want to haggle price of a item they want to buy, vender can do basically three things. 1. He/she is willing/happy to haggle (RP it out) 2. He/she is not in the mood to haggle but don't care one way or other (RP it out) 3. He/she is stubborn and does not even want to try to haggle (SC should start) Also I never make it so the winner has to 100% give in to the opponent to keep drama and guessing games up. Exp: You found a Thin-blood braking the masquerade and want to save him. Sheriff find you and try to take the thin blood away to court. The players and SCP goals are 100% in conflict and the situation is tense so SC starts. Players win SC! The sheriff should not just leave and cry, but what he would do if the players win SC is that he should make a deal "they both get what they want" Sheriff say "Fine, you can come to the court with us and defend your friend there. But if you waist my time and the prince time, you will be punished" The rest of the scene should stay RP only because the players and SCP have common ground and willing to lean into each other.

We are running a westmarch style discord based VtM game and the storyteller is testing incorporating social combat for more social built characters (like mine) utilize their skills, as because we have like 80 PCs most social situations are roleplay based. I'm actually going to be the first test subject lol so I'm looking forward to utilizing social combat to navigate dangerous political situations

Thank you for the video. I disagree with the rules about armor, especially for vampires. Armor degrades over use, but there should be allowances for no damage from an attack. For example, pistol fire into a bullet-proof vest should mean no damage to the vampire at all until the vest takes too many rounds, then it becomes useless. Using something like a shield should also affect this. Might seem OP, but it should be if you are making prep to armor yourself in the first place.

Totally agree. I have definitely allowed armor to have benefits when used in my games before. I have done damage reduction as well as treat it under some circumstances as requiring the attacker to make their attacks at a penalty for a called shot to avoid the armor. I just make sure the players who want this understand that it means other vampires will likely do it too.

I know this is 3 years old but I’ll try to ask and get a response anyway. Lol. So how as a storyteller should combat go for enemies? Like how much easier would it be to fight a human compared to fighting a vampire or werewolf? I guess my question is, what are a humans stats? Lol

There aren't exactly base human stats, but the Core Book has examples of various mortal antagonists. For example, SI soldiers are going to be tougher than a common street criminal for most vampires. It's typically going to be much easier to fight a human than any supernatural creature. Fighting a regular untrained human should be very easy. Some vampires aren't built for combat and might have trouble with a well-trained human. Taking almost everything as superficial damage when mortals don't is a huge advantage all vampires have though.

@@SummonedStories blood potency also allows a "Rouse Re Roll" where depending on the level of discipline you use you can either roll 2 blood dice and pick the highest or roll the same die twice when rolling for that level of discipline. its on the huge table on p216 as far as i am aware rouse reroll only counts to the reroll of hunger dice for disciplines

Does staking kill a 15th Gen?

Staking puts a 15th Gen in torpor. If you're asking about thin-bloods, they are not put in torpor by a stake and would take Aggravated damage from being stabbed with a piercing weapon. They may go into torpor anyway from the damage taken since they take damage like mortals.
