Hi Mike, thank you for the tutorial. I have a question on "super_id" attribute (column), as well as "mgr_id" column. Is it necessary that those 2 attributes be a foreign key? Will the schema be impacted if they weren't foreign keys?
@persiansayed3 жыл бұрын
The data will definitely be impacted, and there would be no corresponding relation. We would be able to put any number in the "super_id" and "mgr_id" column, which will cause data ambiguity.

Thanks a lot Brother. Your way of explaining is awesome. I have a small Question if any one can answer it will be helpful: 9:28 what about Josh Porter? his Branch ID is also 3 do Andy Bernard and Josh Porter both of them belongs to same branch Stamford .
@dhineshkumar204411 ай бұрын
see the employee id is different. it's a primary key it's uniquely identifies the josh porter is the manager
@anibng Жыл бұрын
18:27 Foreign keys? Do you mean both of those columns are primary keys of other tables combining to form a primary key for that table? Because those primary keys link to other tables, are you referring to them also as foreign keys in this context?

The branch supplier example was very confusing to me because it relies on a pretty strong limitation that one branch can buy solely ONE thing from a given supplier, and there really is no logical reason for that. A more intuitive example would connect the supplier and their supplies, so Paper inc. would only ever produces paper, Forms and Labels will only produce custom forms for the company etc. Alternatively, make the initial example clearer: there is no need for a branch that only produces wooden toys to buy anything except wood from Hammer Mill, and on the other hand, there's no need for a publishing branch to buy anything except paper from Hammer Mill. In that case it makes intuitive sense why we would connect a branch and a supplier in a way that doesn't allow any additional purchases.
