Happy new year guys, all the best for 2018. The stand out board game for me last year was Dark Souls. Just wished I had a table big enough to play it properly.

The 2017 game that I played the most was "Target For Today", a solitaire wargame that generates terrific narratives. The most enjoyable game played with others was "Near & Far". We liked "Above & Below", and this took those mechanisms and doubled the enjoyment. I have "Spirit Island", and I expect to enjoy that when I get it to the table. Thanks for the contest!

"Near & Far" and "Above & Below" are amazing looking games, We're looking to get copies. "Spirit Island" seems similar to "Small World" but with cards. Have a friend who's really into war games so will pass on a message for him to pick it up! Happy new year to you ^^
