tabmok99 Reviews pirate Ultimate Mortal Kombat 4 on Famicom by Hummer Team

In my latest review, I tackle the Hummer Team's take on Mortal Kombat 3 for the 8-bit Famicom/NES. It can be glitchy and unfair at times, but it's not like it's totally unplayable or anything.
There are several versions of this game, so it is may go by the following titles:
● Ture Mortal Kombat 3
● True Mortal Kombat 3
● Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
● Mortal Kombat 4
● Ultimate Mortal Kombat 4
Developed by the Hummer Team, and published by NT/KaSheng, with re-releases by ABAB Soft, Inc., and somehow Gold Leopard had a hand in it too.
Is it perfect? No way, owing to some programming glitches, as well as limitations of the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)/Family Computer (Famicom). But, still quite a bit of fun and worth playing - at least once!
One thing that sets this game apart: The fact that it includes credits. Program by Juing Long, Music by Alex Yev, Picture by Huei Fan.

For all the faults this game has with their roster construction and animation mess ups, the scenery and backgrounds are pretty damn impressive for an NES game.

I'd like to see you review the NES pirates. I know you have some on the pavilion but it be awesome to see a video of them. You should try Mortal Kombat 3 (supergame), Mortal Kombat II (MK1), Mortal Kombat special II (MK2) and Mortal Kombat Trilogy (MK5) and finally Mortal Kombat Turbo (MK1 Yoko). MK 6-7 don't count since they are yuyu hakusho games.

tabmok99 awesome. Yeah the MK1 (MKII-MKII) has a ton of variations. MKII, blue intro, 18 peoples etc..Same with MKII special. Do you have the original carts to these? also are you familatr with the MK3 - MK3 60 peoples Super Game nes port.

I would like to point out, that this hack is incomplete version of original hack. In original Nightwolf, Kano and Sub-Zero are fully playable. Movelist for every character: down, forward A (projectile, limited to 3 uses per round) down, forward B down, down A A+B (only for Shao Kahn)

@@tabmok99 I personally owned 2 versions of full game, one with 14 fighters (7 chars looped twice), and 28 fighters (looped 4 times), I was surprised that incomplete version exists. It's pretty pointless if you have original.

Nice! I always found these Mortal Kombat bootlegs to be pretty interesting. They look to be some of the most well made bootlegs for the NES! Great graphics, good sound(Even though on this one the music is just stolen and doesn't fit in at all), and it looks good to play, too! ...Except for Mortal Kombat Trilogy/5..

oh god this piece of shit game. MK4 on the NES. The original build MK3 is way way better but this MK4 is the most common rom (followed by the also shitty Ultimate MK3 pirate aka MK3 18peoples). The original MK pirate has Sub Zero and Kano, the pit level, rooftop and bank, an options menu and you won't have to fight a roster of clones aka special 18 peoples.

+Hipster Black Metal I'm glad you caught that. I completely agree that many reviewers can be dismissive and just crap all over these games, with very little context provided of how they came about. Yes, these games have lots wrong with them. And it's fun to point that out. But if you look beneath the surface there's a lot of redeeming qualities as well.

tabmok99 Compare some of these games to their game boy or sega game gear ports. Are some of these pirates that way off? Some of these NES pirates look better and play better. Anyways for me, Retro pirates, homebrews or romhacks add a sense of replayablity to older consoles. So I welcome pirates and I like to always give them a chance.

The story behind this shirt is the stuff legends are made of. It is one of ups and downs, of greatest victory and deepest tragedy. They were made by Netherrealm Studios (NRS) as a promotional material for the release of the Brazil skin pack in MKX. I've seen Carlos Pesina's daughter wear one at events such as Kombat-Kon. When someone pretty big in the video games industry (name withheld for privacy reasons) passed away, their family listed a bunch of promo items - such as this shirt - for sale on eBay. All the proceeds went to the estate. I was outbid on the first one, but a second one resurfaced almost immediately after. That was the last time I've ever seen one. You won't be able to find too many of these. Besides me, any pictures of anyone wearing one is probably an NRS employee, or closely connected to one.
