President David Janzen is beginning his fourth year as President of Tabor College. Before this, he served as Professor of Computer Science and directed the Software Engineering program at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. He has published 38 peer-reviewed journal or conference papers and has been awarded over $1M in research or outreach funding, including three NSF grants. His research has spanned from empirical studies of software engineering practices to innovation and analysis of pedagogical techniques. Dr. Janzen served as a Faculty Fellow with Cal Poly’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and as a technology consultant with Fortune 500 companies and the San Luis Obispo Small Business Development Center. He co-founded Steadfast Innovation, which created Squid, a popular handwriting note-taking app on Android. President Janzen is a native of Independence, KS, and Enid, OK. He met his wife Karen at Tabor College. They fell in love sitting next to each other on choir tour to California. They have four children, three of whom have or are attending Tabor College.
