TAC Driver 2.75 Vane Review

Today I try out the TAC Driver 2.75 Vane for the first time. First Impression, I really like this vane.. Only time will tell if it is as durable as my old trusty Bohning X2 vane.. But I have high hopes.. Thanks for watching guys..

Love my Bohning heat vanes in 4 fletch , stiff like the tac and quiet ..

This was perfect, I went from AAE max to Heat vanes and love how stiff they are but they aren't great steering broadheads so I just ordered these vanes and I'm really keen for them!

Loved seeing this first impressions video from a few years back. So tell us... Going on 4 years, what are your thoughts now?

I can’t consistently get them to stick. I’ve used the tac glue and the primer and some stick some don’t. And because if that I can’t trust them. I know some people have great results but my experience was too inconsistent

Love how they never replied to that , not what they wanted to hear . I had severe issues getting them to stick . Any color except the white . The white welded themselves to the carbon . Any other color .. nope .

I have been using the heat vanes. They are quieter than blazers and adhere to the shaft much better. I have never had a problem with them.

They're unreal but I noticed they can flick around with Broadheads on the end. Going to the tac which looks a good upgrade

Wow! With the blazer vane you could tell it was a FIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ sound. With the Tac vanes it's more of a woosh sound

How much offset are you using? Straight jig?

I think the tacs are about 3-5 decibels lower

Are the tac vanes still holding up with the AAE primer pen and glue?

Gary Miller yes they are holding up well. However The wraps I used to fletch them aren’t. So I am actually shooting my old X2 vanes right now. I am gonna make up some more arrows with these in the next few day’s tho.

Terry Caudle I haven’t seen any issues yet. But I have only had one package. I will say that these things stick really good if you follow the steps correctly. I haven’t had any fall off like I have the Max vanes from AAE.

While I will say the 2.75 Tacs are stiff and quiet, fly good ... but they f'n suck to try and fletch !! ... cant use 'em with my AZ Mini Max so I used my Grayling/right helical (similar to a Bitz) ... went BY THE BOOK, roughed up the Goldtip with scotch brite, wiped with denatured alcohol (I always use this method), and used the Tac primer pen and Tac glue ... I had several where the rear will not stay down, I tried using the glue like Levi said in his vid, then I tried like Lancaster showed in their vid ... Nope, out of every arrow I tried, one of the 3 vanes refused to stay down in the rear ... I NEVER had this problem with Blazers, which I can use in my Mini Max .. I just ordered a pack of Goldtip Fusion X 2.75 from Lancaster, the rear of those will allow fletching in the Mini Max and the GT Fusions have a wider base which I like .... I use a right helical in the Grayling, and even backed off a tad in the degree, nope, still had problems ... I spent over $40 for the vanes, pen/glue, shipping (had to go UPS because of regulations with the glue/pen) .. I'm done with the Tacs unless someone has an idea on how to glue these damn things !! .. btw, I dont like wraps and wont use 'em ..

Hey glen. So I am no longer using them for hunting. I am however using them for 3d.. I feel they are too stiff and hold a shape too much for hunting.. So if you lay your bow on them or something like that they bend.. The other issue I had is they arent sticking as well as I would like even going through all the steps.. im willing to play with that on a target arrow but failure isnt a option for hunting.

How do these go with helical being so stiff?

I cant tell you because I havent tried.. I run offset because helical falls off past 50 for me.. That said my cousin has some pretty good helical on his and they work great..

What stabilizer setup are you running?

Ricky Bobby 12” front with 3-4oz, 10 inch back with 9. They are atomic rod stabilizers. The little micro ones.
