AIM-120 is a smaller missile, so it wouldn't look quite as weird. Smaller diameter, smaller fin span, and weighs 150 lbs less than an AIM-7. The AIM-120 would still look big on that airframe, but not like the AIM-7 which looks like a drop tank with big fins.

@@paktahnthe game is a spaghetti coded mess, it’s quite easy to hack or at least exploit. Had radar missiles teleport on me from 10 KM away. Also planes pulling AOA out of their ass when they shouldn’t be. Obviously they get banned relatively quick for serious hacking (in my experience) but yeah.

@@sirius_solaris there is a problem with what you are claiming the client cant do any of what you are saying in order for a person to do something like what you are describing they would need to hack the server they are connected to and modify the game data in real time that is not possible for a single human to do you literally can not cheat in the way you are describing without modifying the server itself extreme aoa can easily be explained that its either the other person using full real controls which allows you to actually pull around 25% harder but at the risk of ripping or losing control via stalling or there was an issue with your connection that caused the client to get out of sync with the server making it appear that they suddenly pulled a lot of aoa and is a common problem with the game the teleporting missile could be you not paying attention or the person that fired it shot it at a different target then lost lock or switch the lock to you shortly before it hit you if you were near their original target it would have been heading toward you and you would not get an rwr warning until they locked you up in reality the only hacks i can think of that could be possible in air battles is a spot hack that would keep everyone on the map spotted but that is only if the server is constantly updating the client with everyones location even the unspotted enemies and possibly a lead indicator and that is only if the server streams the info to the client in air rb or if the server streams telemetry of other players to the client you might be able to capture it and write an overlay for the game to give a lead indicator but as far as teleporting or turning outside of the capabilities of the aircraft its not possible without modifying the server its not like older first person shooters that didnt have a dedicated server all warthunder players are clients and are beholden to the rules and parameters of the server you cant modify game data on the client side to change what the vehicles and weapons can do its just not possible

In DCS, most of your bvr engagements will happen within 20 miles, and that’s with aim 120c. Defyn said it the best, it’s a sparrow but with active radar homing.

Keep in mind, when doing BVR, it is good practice to maintain your lock while defending, or in a crank as the seekers in the missiles aren't as good as your radar, and the enemy will have less time to defend against it since they receive the missile pit-bull notification (terminal phase) much later.

These modern fox 3 missiles aren’t meant to be shot at high alts and high speeds, they don’t have a long burn time up until the aim 120c-5 and onwards, at low alts these missiles will bleed energy faster and be slower because of it, but at high alts and launched at high speeds the range drastically increases, I think being the player count down to 6v6 or even 8v8 and make the maps bigger, the meta will change because people will realize that these missiles perform better at higher alts by a landslide. Just increase the rewards for kills and bring the player count down to 6v6, or even 8v8, this will make it not hell trying to fly top tier with hundreds of missiles coming at you

There are quite a lot of difference between the Alpha Jet A and Alpha Jet E, the E stands for Ecole (school) and is mainly used for school tho armed with a 30mm DEFA instead of a 27mm BK . The German Alpha Jet A was mainly used for Light Attack and replaced the Ginas (G.91) and had sophisticated nav-attack system, featuring a Lear-Siegler inertial navigation system (INS); a Litton Doppler navigation radar; and a Kaiser / VDO head-up display (HUD). I saw a picture of a former Luftwaffe Alpha Jet A with countermeasures on the tail, no idea if Portuguese only had those or if those were installed during Luftwaffe service. (Getting added after a report) Edit: AAMs were only tested and AGMs would have been a cancelled upgraded for the German Alpha Jet. Both Alpha Jets lack their air to air missile and air to ground missile they could carry. Aim-9 for German and Magic for French, and I think both could carry AGM-65, no confirmation on that.

Hate to correct you, But it has a single 404 hornet engine from the original f-18 Hornet also once some fuel is usedout with ordinance it still has a 1.13 to 1 power to weight ratio so it can stand on its tail quite well....I am going to purchase it since i am a huge fan of that little fighter Keep up the fantastic videos. One thing I'll say about active homing missiles, with semi active, especially like R27ER, someone going defensive against your missile and losing lock even didn't exactly mean you've lost the engagement. If the opportunity present itself you can re-acquire and the missile will track So can active radar missiles do that? Or do they make up for that by being harder to get rid of in a defensive maneuver? What's your take

The French Alpha Jet is a more modern version because they use that aircraft to this day. Notice the more rounded nose while the German one is really pointy. It mostly comes down to different avionics.

This is off-topic from the update, but I think it's worth mentioning the A2D-1, which astonishingly sits at a whopping 9.0 in Air AB. This is notably high and, in a sense, quite shocking, as it represents the highest Air AB to Ground RB ratio (with Ground RB at 7.0) among all vehicles in War Thunder. Definitely deserves a closer look in one of your videos.

Hi, I have few hours in the game and I unlocked the B57 B a couple days ago but I always get killed by missiles, can someone explain the tactics that defyn talked about to defend against missiles so I can defend myself without flares? Multipathing, notching, etc

Normally, for the Alpha Jet E it should get a DEFA 30MM canon instead of the 27mm mauser. Let's see if gaijin does it like that. I suppose it will be the case because the model of the gunpod is different between A and E variant. german one (A) have a big ass muzzel brake and black barrel, the french one (E) have not any muzzle break and the barrel is silver.

Here's the background story of the F-20 Tigershark : Sometime in the mid 1970s, Republic of China Air Force tried to import F-4Es to replace the F-104Gs but due to closing ties between US and PRC, the procurement attempt failed. So, they contracted Northrop to build "F-5G" that able to use the newly developed GEJ101(later evolved into F404)engine and have the ability to shoot Sparrows. Then, in the late 1970s the F-5G program was progressing well but due to diplomatic reasons the procurement of F-5G was banned by Carter administration. In the end, Republic of China decided to develop their own F-5G substitute by redesigning their own F-5E with the help of General Dynamics which later known become as "Indigenous Defense Fighter"(F-CK1/Fighter Ching Kuo 1). At the mean time Northrop continued the F-5G project which later redesignated as F-20 Tigershark. Unfortunately, 2 of the F-20 Tigershark planes were lost in flight due to G-LOC phenomena, on the other hand the F-20 Tigershark's smaller size platform is a double edge sword, it has smaller radar signature and boast better maneuverability as well as faster top speed, however it also resulted in less ordinance carrying capacity and shorter ferry range than the F-16, F/A-18 and F-CK 1. In the end, F-20 Tigershark program was cancelled in the mid 1980s. Interestingly, in early 1990s ROC Air Force did managed to develop a similar Tigershark concept called F5 2000 by strapping the reverse engineered AMRAAM, APG-67 radar and avionics from F-CK 1(IDF/經國號) as a stopgap measure until more IDFs entered service, at the meantime F-5 2000 was offered for export. Malaysia was interested with the F-5 2000 but eventually decided to go with the Ex Soviet MIG29N(Also, MIG29N retired in 2015 without replacement). The F-5 2000 program was no longer offered for export due to lack of customers demand.

Gaijin admitted in the devblog that in 16v16 matches are "difficult and unforgiving". Also they said they had been testing AMRAAMs in "air dueling situations between a small group of players in a battle using these types of missiles lead to some very interesting gameplay, with new tactical approaches being created". It means nothing but we know that theysee a problem of 16v16. So guys! There is some hope for Air RB!

they are just selling their game. what is more unforgiving then beeing up tiered in 16v16? ... getting up tiered in 10v10. they might compensate that whit longer queue times and less up and downtier but that will make matches super booring due to everyone flying the same plane. 10x mig 29 vs 10x f16 every game in a nutshell. the solition was there: bigger maps and more airfields to spawn on, but most players want immediate action and refuse this model.

@@LR71-personal thats hard to explain i honestly cba typing it all out but just think about it whit some logic. lets say you get up tiered 1.0 br in 1v1. the enemy would abuse his advantages to the limit. the more players in a lobby the less it matters if some planes are 1.0 above yours.

@@LR71-personal man they are about to add active radar homing. that means even in a 8v8 there will be more missiles in the air then in the current air rb. the only solution i see at this point is increasing the SL cost for missiles by like x25. people need to pay when they spam their whole arsenal for 1 kill. but that would be to realistic i guess.

Fuel slider is somewhat of a letdown. Was hoping it could make planes like the Mosquito actually viable in air RB. Still the Mosquito seems to have had some sort of FM change, so maybe you could check that out just in case something’s changed?

you still can't take less than 30% of max load (minimum fuel). Where it is a gamechanger is early jets, where 6 minutes is way too little and 20 minutes is way too much.

@@kkang2828In theory there always has been. Go to the forums and request fuel loads that aren't available. That is what Gaijin has always said for people to do in the past when they asked for a fuel slider. Problem is that they then did nothing with those requests. For the record Gaijin said that this is exactly what the fuel slider would do when they had it on the timeline. As for the FM change for the Mossie? Just a FM update. No actual meaningful change.

Very doubtful, as there'd be no justifiable reason for them. The one we're getting as a premium is about as definitive as you can get, everything else was paper or pure demonstrator (thus being less combat-capable than prototypes 2 and 3)

It was designed to or *meant* to, they were an option. Because of them only being listed as an option, and not something that actually was integrated on prototypes 2 and 3 (which are both the basis for the in-game F-20), it's not likely to get them.

Oh btw, one thing they got extremely wrong, the F-16C Block 50 we have never used AIM-120A's they used the B models and the C models. Hopefully we get the Eurofighter and Meteor too. The news said that every nation will get their ARH missiles and their *capable* aircraft in the summer update. The wording sounds like that every nation gets a new aircraft, but for example I don't feel like they will just add the E or F Gripen (in the current game they would be almost exactly like the C), other than these I don't know what would Sweden get. But even when not every nation gets new aircraft with the ARH missiles, Germany will need something, and as far as I know it only could be the Eurofighter.

Biggest visual difference between the Alphas is the nose. Pointed with a pitot for German, rounded for French. The Germans wanted a trainer/attacker, the French only wanted it for training. As such there are some avionics differences as well, but I don't think this is implemented in WT. -- Edit: saw a comment saying the French one doesn't get ballistic computer, so yes, it is actually implemented.

The new buccaneer Martel missiles are nowhere near real life capabilities sadly. A bug reports gone in about them lacking the man in the loop system. Heres hoping gaijin make them more realistic and thus, useful. Right now its a Bucc with a fatter, less useful maverick/walleye.
