Thank you for taking the time to record, edit and share your experience with this tach kit. Making a posting videos is a learning experience and they don't all start out too great. I know it's been a few years, but can you post links to the items you purchased? Can't find that particular LED display anywhere (DC and AC powered). Best one I've seen so far. Cheers

Sensor is a Hall Effect sensor so it will detect only one magnetic pole, either N or S depending on how sensor is set up. It is working correctly. Many hall effect sensors can't be polarity reversed or they will be damage. The are essentially a transistor

Curious as not wether the magnet picks up chips and swarf being mounted right on the spindle.

hey there just purchased one of these and i think I have wired it up wrong n I get just dashes on the screen and the led on the sensor is on all the time should the led on the sensor only come on when the magnet comes in contact?

Check magnet polarity Hall sensors are North / South sensitive.

I have the exact same problem... I don't suppose you found the fix did you? I know I have it wired in correctly, but it only shows dashes. I try waving the magnet in front of it, but nothing happens. I've tried both sides of the magnet. Screen just stays stuck on the dashes, doesn't even show Zeros...

Dude the runout on your spindle is out of control. Look at that son of a bitch wobble brother, it's all over the place, the 'chatter' I'm willing to bet you're getting & rough finishes are directly related to that spindle bud. Pull'er out & get some new bearings or a straight shaft bud.
