I just picked up a Diawa Ballistic 6000LT he spun up some 30lb super power pro and matched it with a 10’6” Trophy 2 ! I just love it! Last rod I bought was 30 years ago! What a difference in feel !

Old video but you are the man. Breaking down my Shimanos put the fear of god into me but you just removed a bit of my angst. I’ve got two 10yo Stradics that worked like clockwork until I put them on the shelve for a season. Now they are bound up tighter than a frogs butt. A little poking around it looks like the “ rotor brakes” have dissolved into something that looks like penn grease. What did this blue rubbery stuff do and where do I source one for the 6k and one for the 8k? I’m guessing they’re the same part simply because the spools are interchangeable. I’ll owe you big time if you can tell me where to find replacements, what they do and what are the drawbacks of fishing them after getting rid off the ink? Oh yeah… why did they decompose so badly? You probably won’t even see this but WTH.

Great breakdown, probably picking up a few of these. That 14k is calling my name. Totally unrelated question but any advice for an 8’ conventional rod to match up with a torque 12 star drag? Would ideally be using it to cast big plugs off the boat for bass and occasionally blackfishing with it. I appreciate any help

It's better sealed than the slammer especially at the clutch... 6k would hold about 300 yards of 30lb braid.. Perfect for a 3/4-4 10' ish class rod

If I fished from a boat or a pier, I can see the attraction people have to these excellent Shimano reels. But they just look so delicate and too nice to abuse the way I fish. ( from a paddleboard in saltwater or standing within the surf). I got sick of Spinfisher s and slammers not lasting more than 2 years even with services so I had to go with Van Staal VSB. Luckily, I've never felt how smooth a Stella is so I don't know any better. But I can abuse the Van Staal without a worry. It's held up excellently.
