Great review, and thanks for the honest opinions on both reels. I agree with you on those Stella FI's - i have a couple of them and one of them is very geary after 2 seasons of freshwater use. I am thinking about selling it and picking up the exsense in it's place, lol. I splurged about a month ago and ordered a 2018 exist from japan (3000S-CXH model) and that thing is definitely a step above the stella's. I really like my shimanos for the most part, but man this daiwa takes it up a couple notches. I think in the high end $700-800 range the new exist is the winner.

Awesome to hear about the exist... And definitely sucks about your Stella but it's something I've heard quite a bit

I would of brought a exist if it had a aluminum monocoque body. Hate magnesium, even though i wash my reels, it doesnt leave peice of mind when you have a $800 magnesium reel prone to corrosion more than aluminum. Even though its only meant to be for fresh water, sometimes you want to take it out for fun.
@nathanboonprasong26016 жыл бұрын
just saying how their material choice of magnesium monocoque for the Exist compared to aluminium monocoque (Saltiga Bayjigger), I mean everyone knows magnesium in mixed with saltwater is a no no

@@TackleAdvisors They become "geary" when you reel down the bail arm. And if you don't service the reel, the grease wears off and it becomes geary even quicker. Everytime you reel down the bail arm, it's one tooth on the piniongear that has to handle all the extra torqe. So tihs one tooth is getting alot more wear than the rest of the gear. Since it's really tight tolerances, you can feel this worn tooth quite well.

I just got the 2021 Exsence and man, is it smooth. It's lighter and has lower start up inertia when compared to the old model and the taller spool also makes it cast (slightly) further. You were right about the Exsence being a more "sensitive" reel than the Stella. Hoping to to see your review on it soon! :D

Been using my Exsence 4000 for jewfishing (molloway) and kingfishing on the east coast of Australia for the past year and this reel hasnt missed a beat, really impressed with how it performs in offshore and inshore applications. Still as smooth as the day it was bought with minimal servicing. Would buy it again every time.

hi, I just got my expense 3000M yesterday, topic you open about expensive tackle, my answer is I am getting most expensive always because I am not rich and I don't have time to send items to repair or wit for parts. and buy and buy same junk over and over. I don't want to name names, but in 11 month I sent a bait caster and spinning reel 5 times in total for repair spinning was $300 and bait caster was $400. so that was my lesson learned and now I buy high end to enjoy my life actually, not some garbage that you need to wait and wait always to get repaired ship back to you and loose days on water. thank you for great videos, I am new subscriber and probably going to join as well. cheers

I absolutely love my 17' Exsence C3000MHG. So much I purchased a second. Like them better than my Stella's. It's only 7 oz., has a Strong/responsive drag, the blacked out look is cool and balances great with all my Bass rods. I use it for all my soft plastic applications to inshore. Bulletproof! Just put some 10-15LB braid on it and you're ready to go.

XGear ratio is quite useful when all of the lure presentation is done with the tip of your rod, it helps keep the line with no slack so you don’t miss on any bite. Also, I’ve changed most of my fishing techniques way back and try to do 99% of the lure presentation with rod, not reel, it helps extend a reel life by far.

Nothing compares to the feel of a minty fresh stella (haven't touched a new exist yet..but the certate was close) Lots of guys try to say their stradics are close.....but put a few hundred fish on em and every stradic i've seen gets sloppy....Tons of guys i fish with have em...and they all have tons of handle slop after they have been put through their paces....
@rapalaman66816 жыл бұрын
You are probably right on the slop but true on most other brands as well. We usually get what we pay for. I have the 3000 US EXSENCE and the new EXIST. The EXIST hands down is simply amazing in looks and performance - spooky smooth and no screws showing with that new body! - lighter than the FJ. The Rotor on the EXIST and the TATULA LT 3000 are even lighter than the EXSENCE and require even less handle start up pressure. But the EXSENCE rotor has better balance because the bail mechanism is located on the opposite side. And almost forgot; I have a CI4 STRADIC 2000 JDM size not available in US. Great review!!

Thank you for an awesome reviews and advices on reels. Prior your channel, I have learn a lot about high end Japanese reels by watching Profisher videos for years. IMO I think the most Robust and Durable reel is the line Daiwa Certate reels made in Japan. Those are my go to reels, I own 2006, 2010, 2013, and 2016. They never let me down. I use them fishing for salmon and steelheads in the Northwest. For price, value and durability. I don’t think anything can touch the Daiwa Certate reels. And Yes, I love them low gear ratios and they only sale in Japan.
@TackleAdvisors5 жыл бұрын
I 100 percent agree with you. The new certate is on par with the Stella IMHO. Profisher is the man. I think he's the only one that does anything similar. I didn't realize that he did it prior to me. Shocked Noone else has. I tried convincing Alan hawk to give it a whirl bit to no avail

It's not just the rotor material, asymmetric rotor design shaves off additional weight as well, which Stella FI doesn't have incorporated.

I own this Exsence (a 3000) it is nearly the same as my 3000 JDM Vanquish. Spools are interchangeable -Vanquish spool is deeper (more line capacity). Same body and bearing count. Yet the Vanquish is nearly half once lighter! Body, spool and handle -all lighter!) Both are equal in quality and feel. The other Exsence which is a CI4 version (less bearings than the Japan version and similar to the Stradic. The CI4 version is made in Malaysia. The CI4 version is more like a very very dark gray color compared to the black on the Japan model. The Vanquish is still lighter than the CI4 version also. The CI4 version is less money too. The Vanquish is my pick if you are OK with gold, black and silver rather than all black.

Coming back to this vid years later confirms my sanity when you mentioned you fish better with slower gear ratio. Based on everything you said, I experienced the samething when Im out there fishing. When the fish starts hitting your line, you will focus on catching the fish and will lose your attention on your retrieve that I myself sometimes get annoyed, that I end up losing the fish because of how fast the bait moved. This is why nowadays I just order reels straight from Japan because here in the US market, most of the high end Daiwa and Shimano Reels I like, they only offer high gear ratio.

I have the 2500 Certate (new version) and the C3000M Exsence from Japan. Both of these reels are just a dream to fish and it is a difficult task to try to say which one is my favorite. I happen to like the “Batman “ look on the Shimano, but the simple elegant look of the Daiwa is just as satisfying. Barring any collapse in worldwide reel manufacturing or supply chain crashes, I am going to get a couple more. I would be interested in your opinion or comparison of the two reels. BTW, I am using these almost exclusively for bass fishing (not that it makes a difference). Thanks again for your videos!!!

When you mentioned "taller spools giving slightly longer casting distance" for spinning reels, which I'm not doubting, but I can tell you right now that THE LARGER THE DIAMETER OF THE SPOOL, THE LESS FRICTION ON THE LINE DURING CASTING, because the same distance of line coming off the spool is coming off in LESS COILS-PER DISTANCE on a larger diameter spool vs a smaller diameter spool. Another way to look at it, is the same amount of line coils coming off of a larger diameter spool means MORE LINE IS COMING OFF vs a smaller diameter spool with the same amount of coils or "rotations" of line leaving the spool. Also, the line doesn't have to come off in "tighter coils" on a larger diameter spool, because it is coming off in LOOSER COILS which also means LESS FRICTION during the cast. Any way ya look at it, a larger diameter spool SHOULD outperform a smaller diameter spool for sheer casting distance, providing of course, that both spools are filled properly with line & have the same type of outer lip shape and material it's made from. The line-stripper guide on the rod ( the first line guide closest to the reel ) should be a tad bigger to accommodate the larger spool........and even then, those newer line guides with "the smaller line guide attached acting like a funnel" on the stripper guide of the "Airwave" ( I think that's what they're called ) spinning rod line-guide system by American Tackle Co. and developed by the late Doug Hannon........really DO increase casting distance, because that "attached funnel guide" to the stripper guide drastically reduces "line slap" against the rod during the cast. The slow motion video footage proves it. And so did test casting for distance. After the line passes through that special line stripper guide with "the funneling effect", that line then shoots across the rest of the rod straight as an arrow........again with LESS FRICTION.
@TackleAdvisors6 жыл бұрын
10000% Great point! i've mentioned that before you also get fewer coils that add turbulance and less memory......but when line switches direction coming off the spool it adds turbulance......which adds resistance...which is why most distance spinners use a slow oscillation and tall spool that is of larger diameters and they supply spacers to take up arbor space if using light lines.

So, when you are fishing tournaments, 3 days in a row a strong but light magnesium frame doesn’t make a difference? And if you take a big bass out of weeds, with 5 lb of grass in addition to bass weight, a metal rotor as in Stella, which doesn’t flexes, and haul them into the boat, it doesn’t give you a longer bail(usually first item to fail) life? Don’t think so.
@TackleAdvisors3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what point you're trying to make? Rotor flex when doing what you describe isn't an issue with a good reel. You're not winching up 5lbs of weight...Hell my Stella/ saltiga/ zeebaas reels would have trouble winching up 5lbs of weight :) The main isue with rotor flex is a slight inconsistency in drag...with the rotor arms hitting the spool being a major issue....I've not heard of that outside of tuna, amberjack or GT fishing. Bail mechanisms fail due to metal fatigue or debris ((ooor debris in the trip causing the trip ramp to wear down. Weight may or may not play a role depending on the rod and how you hold the rod and where. Alon with it's balance point and whether you need a tip up or can fish horizontal. I fish every day, tournaments or not.. :)

Hi Martin. I've been asked a bunch of times for recommendations for baitcasters for the salt.....unfortunately in the NE i don't have a use for small reels since I only target striped bass and bluefish , tuna, shark, swordfish and such offshore. I tried to use the concept z in the salt and after 2 nights of striped bass......I'd definetely not recomend that lol. And that's supposed to be a salty safe reel. If you are only going to be running into appropriately sized fish. I'd say as long as you maintain your gear properly. Anything that's saltwater specific from daiwa or rated safe for salt from shimano would be great. Say the daiwa coastal or Curado. About a year ago Jamesbay kzbin.info/door/GJi21DmN55XPuK7LncsLzg did a coastal review and i've heard from others it's held up in the salt down south...but that's all I got! lol let me know what you decide. There is a worm and a worm wheel combining to make a worm drive. There is no worm gear in that fishing reel. But it has what they call a worm. The Penn Z series has a worm drive. Module It is the ratio of the reference diameter of the gear divided by the number of teeth. From what I saw on an add Shimano took out the nice helical gears and replaced them with cheaper spur gears and gave them the fancy name of NEW Micro Module gears. This in turn making people think they improved the reel but in reality they made it cheaper with gear cost cuts.

What’s the best 1000 sized reel in your opinion. Looking for light too to balance on a GLX 820s DSR. Thanks in advance
@TackleAdvisors5 жыл бұрын
If you want super light the Tatula /ballistic are awesome and you can go with the 2500or 2000 size and come in crazy light (make sure they're smooth out of the box as I've seen some defects) . Stradic FL 1000 would be where I'd go if I wanted shimano... But prefer the otw of a 2500 spool over a 1k
@matthewpriestley72025 жыл бұрын
Tackle Advisors The 2500 Ballistic at 6.3oz throws the balance point off. Has a Stradic ci4 on it which works at 5.6oz. Was thinking the exist 2000 at 5.5oz but the 4:9:1 gear ratio threw me off.

Might be cheaper to keep the Ballistic and get the NRX 822 DSR that I prefer anyway ;)

Hey Nate...glad you like em......out of what's out now....steez sv tws :) can throw very low.....almost bfs worthy (not quite but It loves 1/8 and does 1/16. And everything else above it. The MGL reels are nice too. Pretty much any magforce z or sv spooled reel will be fine at or above 1/8....same with the svs infinity reels. @TackleAdvisors6 жыл бұрын
I'll be doing some more rod reviews...I'm rebuilding my work area so I can turn the camera around and do some live streams...that will make things a bit easier. I think slow pitch depends on whats around...and here's why.....often you need to drop a jig down and crawl it back....reel too fast you get dogfish, jig it....and you get bluefish. It'll catch no doubt...but when other fish are in the area....I've found a slow crawl to be best....more often than not..I'd like to see skinner go further down the slow pitch rabbit hole

You can view the inside of the Exist LT and Certate LT by searching on” Profisher” channel. I think Certate LT is a better value than they Exist. The differences between the two reels is that Exist LT has a lighter magnesium frame vs Certate Aluminum, plus two extra bearings underneath the spool. They both has Duralumin main gears and brass pinion.

I recently discovered your channel and really like the content. It's a little of topic but I recently tried to get parts for a daiwa I have and was unable to get parts like I can easily for my other reel makes. I had to take it to a repair shop and they had to send it to daiwa. Can you shed a little light on this for me by chance? The shop said it's like that with avet as well. Just curious because I like to service my reels if I can.
@mitchlee53856 жыл бұрын
Hey Primate -- Daiwa doesn't sell their Magseal oil, making it hard for reel repair shops to service your reels. Magseal is ferrofluid, but it's hard to find a ferrofluid that matches the magnetic props of the magseal fluid.
@ScuffedEngineer6 жыл бұрын
Try contacting The Tackle Trap or looking at the website to see if they got what you want. Lots of people from Tackle Tour use them to upgrade and change their Daiwas. Edit: I don't think The Tackle Trap is able to get the ferrofluid for magseal stuff and the only reason Tackle Advisors messes with his is because he was given some iirc, so that might be a "send to Daiwa no matter what" issue.
@primate27446 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I'll check that out. It's kind of made me not want to buy daiwa from here on honestly. That may not sound like a good enough reason to not buy a brand that I really otherwise like but I paid a local shop $65 and still ended up with the same problem so I just figured I'd start servicing them myself and save a few bucks.
@smoothddd5 жыл бұрын
the daiwas dont have a worm shaft like the shimano and they are just as smooth.. so why do you need this worm oscillation ? isnt this just making things more complicated for no special reason?
@lansiman6 жыл бұрын
only in America you'll see people refer plastics as premium and metals as inferior material. daiwa think so too when they make all plastic construction (they call zaion) in their last gen flagship spinning reel, the exist and guess what? nobody bought them, now they revert back to magnesium body in the current exist and people seems to take notice again. not everything is about size and weight, people also value the premium solid feeling of full metals construction

Tackle Advisors that's why i bought 2. They cast pretty far. Planning to upgrade bearings in the future to ceramics. Also what are you thoughts on AMS TSI 321 lubricant for bearings as opposed to reel-x?
@TackleAdvisors6 жыл бұрын
Cool!!! I use both sorta...I use corrosion x and 321. I love em both. Both work great. 321 cut with denatured alcohol mixed with tungsten disulfide is how I lube all my baitcasters now adays. I chunk with a tranx 500 off the beach ( i only use one rod when chunking...j hooks and hold th rod) I've but some mileage on that reel and the ceramics I put in are still spinning very well no corrsion anywhere in the reel and i used tsi on all bearings. I've used tsi on off shore trolling reels and no issues either. I even use it on my bfs reels and it's great. After seeing how it works when being cut and how it works in the salt.i stoped paying attention to other oils that need replacement after 20 casts.....I used to use rocket fuel red and yellow. Rocket oil from boca hot sauce you name it. lol

I dont understand your constant issue with Aluminum vs any fancy plastic composite mixture,, for the most part i like your part comp;arisons but you do have a few subjective points that you have repeatably gone on about to extreme,,not everyone prefers plastic no matter how much of this or that is baked into it,,,lol,, I dont see alot said about ultralight reel design in general where water causes alot issues for wase fishermen and stream fishing .but this type of fishing exposes reels to alot of water as well as dirt and all kinds of reel destroying grime,,saltwater isnt the only type of fishing in need of better quality seals etc etc yet most ultralight reels completely miss the mark in this respect. Most hardcore smallmouth fishermen that wadefish know this all tol well.
