I bought this tool a few weeks ago, after doing month's of research and re-research before finally pulling the trigger. Man, it is absolutely one of the best investments I have made for non-water fishing equipment! ABSOLUTELY! I have loaned it out to several of my fishing buddies who doubted that it works the way I was saying.... they have since paid into the price of it, for future visitation rights! Don't see a reason for all of us to have to spend the money to buy one when you are not going to be using it that often. My spinning reels have never cast better or farther, without the line twist and pull offs of previous spooling attempts. I am getting ready to re-spool all my ultralight, microlight trout fishing rods; wanting to see how the it works with 1#-2# line.

Follow up on my earlier comment. I just back from a week of trout fishing, I switched to 1# line for my micro light rigs. There have been many who said that this tool would not work with extremely light line and small reels. For me, it did not matter! I also switched out line for many family members all with excellent results. I am even more happy with my purchase of this tool.

I have used this for past two seasons. Easy use and store. I paid $40. Now priced less so would agree that it is a good product for spinning reels and baitcasters, too.

That is pretty cool because it would help more with the actual twist than the lay and memory. I usually take the spool off after and let it soak in warm water overnight to help it kinda readjust too.

Thanks for video Fella. Some spools have a Notch in the spool, causing the line to catch as you spool it. Daiwa J-braid has such a notch. Would this line spoiler prevent the line from catching?

This blows my mind and completely looks like it would be twisting the line. I can say this, if this is the correct way to do it then I’ve never had a spinning reel lined properly.

Vinfish F My way works well, I've done it for years with zero issues. After I made this video I stripped the line off the reel to see if it was twisted and it wasn't at all. I put in a small clip of that towards the end. It gives the appearance that it's twisting your line, but it's not. Either way works fine in my book.

Spinning reels will always have line twist at some point if your catching big fish that pull out lots of drag or if your casting into the surf and and walking your line back. Cause it comes off differently in drag and twists reeling in. Do it enough and your top line becomes twisted alot with braid.
@randomcuriosities84414 жыл бұрын
What about a video showing whether there is line twist on the spinning reel after spooling this way???

I kept seeing that on Amazon everytime I went to buy line, but I never trusted buying it, even if it was just to try it out. Always looked to gimmicky to me lol. But hell, if it gets a 👍from you Jim, I guess I can give it a shot. One question though, when you spool the spinning reels, do you peel the line off the top or the bottom of the spool?
@TackleJunky816 жыл бұрын
Rob Mills Since it spins it doesn't matter.

An interesting tool, TJ81! But, for those who want to spool up their reels manually, the rule is very simple when described with a little mnemonic memory trick: For spinning reels, if a line spool is placed out in front of your reel (like you have caught a fish), and the line spool is vertical (like a tire resting on its tread, not lying flat), the line should come off the bottom . The line delivery will look like a softball pitch thrown "underhanded." This puts the bias of the line on the line spool onto the reel with the same orientation. For baitcasters, the vertical line spool should have the line pulled off from the top, like a fastball pitch in baseball, that is, over-handed. For anyone who thinks this is trivial, makes no difference, try taking a new garden hose from a hardware store and reeling it up on a garden hose reel against its bias. Brad
