People who say they have never made mistakes, also have never worked or built anything in their lives ! You can only learn by making mistakes, the more mistakes you’ve made; the more you’ve learned. Glad you’re still learning, working hard & enjoying life. Stay positive, stay healthy & this time it’s greetings from Lagos Algarve Portugal 🇵🇹 having a well earned holiday break from Germany 🇩🇪

Ouch. Should have fixed the panels through the concrete from inside. Always use marine silicone or rubber washers. I like to lay foam cushioning to reduce movement too. Not sure if Nick knows what he is doing. Sorry to tell you but as it is, you will either have leaks when it rains or the panels will come loose in a storm.

It takes many years and a lot of learning to be as skilled as Nick is and he learns as he goes because every job or task/ project is different! Thank God Nick likes to help others. Whenever you can Dan offer to help him out and you’ll learn a lot. 😊Glad to see your home coming along so well.

Better dont put bolts in the dip of the roof profile where the water flows, ALWAYS on top!And always use the bolts with rubber washer for making it watertight.

I would advise you to cut down the olive tree that is growing right next to your stone barn. Snakes, rats, mice can use the tree to access the roof to your future abode.

The plastic insulated roof panels are a great solution ....to keeep water and cold outside.. the screws with rubber gromets are allways fixed in the ridge not in the groove tought
@richardduffy91106 ай бұрын
Looks great guys. Only concern is the screws fixed in the groove where the water runs down. They will rust away after some time and allow water in. They should be fixed at the hump of the roof sheets to prevent ingress. Hope this helps.

Thank you Laura and Dan, for sharing your good progress, one inspiring step at a time. Also for sharing the mistakes, which are part of every human life. It helps us to relate to you, to feel we're on this journey and in step right along side you. This is a GIFT for us; your already 70,000+ subscribers is evidence that you are both AWESOME and are doing fantastic work in building your homestead and in video-making!! However difficult low days can feel, don't worry, you will get there. Your timing is perfect, you are right where you should be. Lest anyone forget, it was the tortoise that won the race, not the hare. Most importantly, you are both wonderful souls, I don't have enough words of praise to tell you how much I enjoy your vlogs! Your ability to laugh and be playful is medicine for each hard moment, and your hard work keeps one foot in front of the other, creating this life, day by day. We cheer for you! CONGRATS! Lee

We can tell you that even professionals make mistakes. The only difference is they don't tell you! They usually hide it or redo it. And you wouldn't know - until later, lol. Also they add the costs of their mistake to your bill. Ugh. In your instance, mistakes are a learning experience. Ive built my own home and trust me, you guys are doing great! Take it easy and go with the process. It'll work out in the end 😊

It looks great 👍 Amazed that you can stand on the panels. I guess UV light will degrade them eventually, can you coat them with some kind of protection each year ? Did you consider laying them on top of the corrugated iron ? I must have missed the vid when you bought them, I'll go and watch it. Surprised by the lovely green landscape, I was expecting it to start looking parched 🌄

Hello my sweet friends! Wow! How wonderful to see the roof going up. I sit back and look at the transformation and thank the Lord for your amazing blessings. God bless Nick for all his help and being such a great teacher! I pray you both are well, safe and filled with joy. So much love and love in Christ. ~John John 3:16-17 NKJV For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. I know John 3:16 is usually only read, but the 17th verse really brings it all together. 🙂
