There are so many Mexican restaurants in Richmond. 23rd st, San Pablo Ave, McDonald Ave, and some on Rumrill Blvd and other random areas. I like Tacos El Toucan but they take a long time, have to go there 10 minutes before they open. I like the Quesabirrias at, heck, Las Montanas also (technically it's in San Pablo but most long time natives treat San Pablo as Richmond because it's in the middle of Richmond, so we don't differentiate the two, it's just Richmond). I think the best places are on 23rd though, it's mostly Mexicans going there so I feel like it's more authentic. El Garage, I been hearing is mostly just hype from outsiders mainly.

@@VidaEats Las Montanas is a chain so its not a unique place. Pollos Asados Don Rafa inside Food Barn on Rumrill Blvd is also good.

Some taquerias actually cook meats fresh on every order. Some cook it all early and let it sit in the steam table. Just have to find the ones that cook the meat fresh when you order.

How do y’all prep for these tours? I love how Mike is learning more and more!! Good job

It's pretty simple actually, I really just get on Yelp the day before to look up a few places to hit up then we either meet at a location near the 1st place or I pick up Mike on the way to the 1st place. We usually get to the 1st place before they open to avoid big crowds especially when their a popular location. Mike actually filmed a cool interview video about taco tours which will be coming soon! I edit the video which takes around 4-8 hours then I upload and add all the tags, descriptions and make the social media posts. Come Friday morning I post all the announcements on my social media outlets and presto we have ourselves a taco tours.

number one rule for mexican restaurants never use yelp to check out a place. We don’t review online. You missed out on La Flor de Jalisco Taqueria, Los Grujenses taqueria, Tacos el Chino, El Garage and Pollos don Rafa and can’t forget tacos el primo

I totally get your point but for someone that is not from the area I wouldn’t know what places are good without trying them first. We’ve also been disappointed with the recommendations from locals before but that’s a topic on its own since the dilema is that for the most part that local has never traveled for just tacos therefore their perception of a good taco is limited by what they have tried only.
