Since they are considered professional dancers, they probably are in the studio for almost a full day, so probably break it down into sections and then review it a couple times for memory. Afterwards, they'll spend another couple weeks "cleaning" so the movements are sharp and put together. If I'd have to guess at least a month for the initial learning. Then spend the time leading up to the show rehearsing it a few times.

"Puttin' On the Ritz" is a song written by Irving Berlin. He wrote it in May 1927 and first published it on December 2, 1929. It was registered as an unpublished song on August 24, 1927, and again on July 27, 1928. It was introduced by Harry Richman and chorus in the musical film Puttin' On the Ritz (1930). According to The Complete Lyrics of Irving Berlin, this was the first song in the film to be sung by an interracial ensemble. The title derives from the slang expression "to put on the Ritz", meaning to dress very fashionably! This expression was itself inspired by the opulent Ritz Hotel in London! 1983 BABY!

It didn’t help that he had so much competition in music at the time. It also didn’t help that almost his whole schtick was basically showtunes. And it also didn’t help that he ultimately chose to stay close to home in Germany. His management at the time tried to get him to live in America to stay internationally successful, but he ultimately felt that the way the music business worked there was very foreign to him as a European, where he was used to mingling and networking on a deeper level.
