Tacoma LED License Plate Lights - Installation Instructions

I have a 2021 Tacoma and I followed your directions but the space was too tight for my hands. I noticed that the lens wobbles in place from the front so I encourage it out from the sides using a wide blade stubby screwdriver. Then I changed the bulb without an issue and popped the lens assembly in place. This might help those who can't wedge their hands in this tight space.

I have small hands in my opinion , but maybe not , since I just spent 15 minutes on one and just can get the bulb out. And I was laying down , I can't even imagine doing it sitting up. I'm sure my 2019 Tacoma Off Road isn't any different. Guess I will try it sitting up after my knuckles heal.

I had a terrible time trying to get mine done, my hands aren’t oversized by no means, but my fingers are kind of short! I found the video of the guy who took the light out of the bumper, I’m going to try that tomorrow

@@harry39196 good luck , I just don't have nimble fingers and my wrists are not flexible , so I struggle with stuff like this. I did finally get them in but the one side is not turned as far as it can go. So far they are both in and not hanging down.

Some people insert splungers and pull the whole square lens out from the front side. I'm a small-hands guy, and I wasn't able get both my bulbs out with the twist-pull from the bottom. Ended up in the end doing both from the splunge, pull method for the whole assembly.

Well Mike I installed LEDs in my license plate lights to but I couldn't get my hand up in there as easy as you could with a lot of swearing cuts and scrapes by the time I get done it looked like I went a few rounds with Freddy Krueger LOL I do know there's a video out there of someone is taking out the license plate light from the front anyways great video great instructions keep them coming looking forward to the next one you and your family be safe

I want to put LED DRL on my 21 SR5 but I think their the same bulbs as the turn signals. Any knowledge of this? Any suggestions?

I felt there was plenty of space but there's another comment from someone that said the install was a lot harder for them. Hard to say!

It's extremely difficult with big hands! Pay close attention to how the blub housing aligns with the fixture. This will save you some time in the pinched position!

My hands are not overly big, but my fingers must be short! I finally gave up until I watched the video tonight of the guy who went on the outside of the bumper and took out the whole assembly, which looked like it was a lot easier. I’m going to try that tomorrow

Problem with the LED bulbs, at least the ones I installed, is that they are so bright that they overwhelm the image in the back up camera.

There is an adapter you can get to disable the license plate lights while in reverse

I just watched another video that the guy took the light out of the bumper from the outside. He just pooped the lense off and was able to access the bulb so easily. My hands are way too big and my fingers way too short to go under. Hope that helps
