I’ve said for a fair few years now that English teams will always do well in Europe when compared to PSG due to the standard of competition against the teams in their own domestic leagues. Teams like City are kept on their toes and have to play at a very high standard week in week out whereas PSG simply but respectfully don’t. It’s very difficult to just suddenly turn it on in a Champions League semifinal after you’ve just lost to Metz (who?) 3:1.

Yes. Zinchenko being left footed and able to invert helped City a lot. His energy down the left basically pinned Florenzi because he can cross the ball on his left after breaking offside trap, while Cancelo had to use his right foot, allowing PSG to recover their defensive shape. Pinning Florenzi to the back allowed Foden and KDB to do their magic in the middle. The sub swung the momentum in City's favor and sought out the win.

It frustrates me to hear and read the comments saying "City were lucky". No, the Marquinhos goal was a real shamble, It shouldn't have happened, it also happened during the moments when City lost control, which gave space for Mbappe, Maria and Neymar whom are fantastic in small spaces. In the second half PSG lost their great advantage of opportunities because they didn't receive enough time on the ball in the back to transition further up as they needed. That is why there were so many more fouls. Other than that, an experienced playmaker as KDB knows to put crosses if possible so close to goal so not just his team mates can net it in, but as well players from the opposite team make mistakes - one was Navas's positioning. after that, the defence and midfield got so frustrated on PSG's side as City got into their own skin, forcing themselves forward with small spaces and overloading high up to rapidly pick up the ball again. Just look at the reaction that led to the free-kick winning goal. Even if you say that goal was lucky, there were other half-chances from City today. They could have won by 1-4 as well. And without these "lucky goals" 1-2 IMO. Being turned-off/lax or loosing temper, is a part of the game, do not put this win down to luck.

The team(PSG) lost the game because they did not adapt in the 2nd half after so many efforts in the first half. The defeat was mentally after the first City goal, they give up and wanted to play more individually (Neymar dropping too deep, Di Maria only dribbling alone). Zinchenko entrance changes the dynamic in the half-spaces so KDB and Foden can overload the Wing backs and create chances. Verratti was supposed to be substituted and replace by Kean to spin Walker down and Herrera should have replaced Gueye to help on the right side. When you keep running after the ball you get tired and frustrated, furthermore, they conceded 2 unlucky goals, and mentally they are fragile, whence the red card of Gueye and the Yellow of Neymar. People complain that Mbappe has an "off Game" but what can you do when your defenders stay in front of your own penalty box and you are only supported by 1 player (Neymar) who dropped further down 70m to received the ball? Pochettino lost it because he was supposed to ask his team to play further up the pitch and doubled down on both flanks to not be outnumbered. Now they need to score 2 goals without conceding so they should press City harder and not let them play, which will be difficult for them as they are not accustomed to be pushed out of their comfort zone in France where they always have 60-75% of possession and do not need to press.

He actually showed us the 2nd half blueprint... the two main points were mentioned at around 6 minutes, basically having to do with City liberating the fullbacks to attack and that in turn allowing them to have 5 guys around PSG's 3 midfielders, who missed the proper support from their 2 stars. Everything else that happened has to do with this mechanic, luck or not. He just "kept it simple" and avoided waxing lyrical over City's success, which in my mind was fair.

City seem more comfortable at not being as compact as the Bavarians were, so the 'high line trap' didnt work. The other mistake from Poch was not changing his approach midgame. Keeping Mbappe on for the whole 2nd half has more to do with off-the-field reasons than anything else, his presence upfront was well managed by City and it didn't pin back any of their players. I even saw Neymar tracking back more than him...! Kean might have brought some balance around the time of KDB's goal. As for City, they were composed enough to weather the bad moments and impose their game without fear. By then they could pass the ball around and be comfortable going at PSG's 8-man defending team. The 'collapse' had much to do with the strain imposed. Ironically, City didn't have as many last-ball, decisive chances as Bayern had.

Yeah also agree Bayern were a lot better against PSG than City even after the tactical change of sending Foden more centrally and subbing Zinchenko on to push up and go wide.

Why city struggled to create chances because KDB was isolated up front. KDB is at his ruthless best when he has wingers and strikers running in front of him. To be honest This match was crying for Sterling and Aguero. De Bruyne would’ve run riot if he was in midfield instead of playing as a false 9. I reckon city won’t regret the chances which could’ve been taken after the red card. They missed an opportunity to score even more.

Cancelo's, also Zinchenko's positional skills make City's game easier that build-up and defence is fulfilled well. PSG only waits Rodri to make mistake in passing then take advantage of counter attacking. And the main point is lacking shots in results of attacks because of Ruben Dias marking Mbappe and giving him no chance.

Psg played themselves to defeat... it was clear at the start of the second half that city was high pressing; psg kept trying to play out the back consistently which created pressure by city good marking psg got tired mentally and break. Psg should have started longing ball from back kick and disrupt city plan.

Wasn't impressed with City's offense at all: both their goals were flukes. And although I admire their grit, PSG honestly just gave up / played passive in the second half. As if they were afraid of giving up the away goal after scoring. Overall, PSG looked more threatening and City just passed the ball around to pass the ball around with no runs/cuts or any isolation plays.
