The lowa Zephyr is the best boot I have ever owned. It is the most versatile, rugged, and agile boot I have ever worn. If I could have one shoe the rest of my entire life, it would be the zephyr.

For my "true" tac boots I've used Original Swats for years. They come in multiple widths. I actually stalked just before the "vid". One of the nice things the soles while primarily glued have stitching in places to back up. As well you can get "water proof" or not depending on application. I've even done mountaineering with my Swats. I would just adjust the way I tie them to what I thought I was going to be doing. Since my requirements have definitely changed I've switched more to using Jim Green AR8's, great for a wide foot. I custom order to suit my needs from their stalk double lasted to single lasted, steel toe, leather choice to different sole options. They are not perfect of course (what boot is) but for the cost vrs quality can't really be at them!! Also they are great for the whole gray man thing if and when you are worried about that.

I’d recommend CAT boots. They are better boots at a better price and offer what you’re looking for. Get the ones that look like timberlands with stitched outsole. Thank me later 👊🏼
@va6gkthaskey3112 ай бұрын
@@BoneTactical I've watched a few breakdowns of the CAT boots and from what I saw and the people doing the review they definitely not worth the money. Even Red Wings have better boots for a decent price compared to the CAT boots. The Jim Greens are solid boots that are mostly leather, which will hold up a heck of a lot better than synthetic materials. Which dollar for dollar the Jim Greens are a much better boot. If I was to go away from the Jim Greens I'd be spending more money and going to Franks, Boulet or something along that way. Something made in Canada or the states and top quality!!

Paused @ the 9:18 mark. You are referring to, the more common resolable stitching, a 360 degree Goodyear Welt. There are other kinds of stitching 🪡 , too, but that is the more common. My leather Pfister boots in Scotch color, from the Milwaukee Boot Company (website & KZbin channel, brick 🧱 and mortar building in Milwaukee) have a Goodyear Welt. Stitched shoes and boots, shoes such as Allen Edmonds (metro Milwaukee area) can last one potentially a life time if taken care of. A cobbler can resole them. Of course quality and thickness or leather matters too. This last part I know much less about. I know Chicago is famous for the Chromexcel tanned leather. There used to be leather tanneries throughout Milwaukee and Chicago and some other cities too. I'm looking at getting snow boots 🥾. The heels on mine are worn to holes about to pop in. But the entire sole is cemented (glued I think that is) on. I've had them for 20 or close to 20 years the heels are worn flat, lower than flat actually on one side of each boot. One dilemma I face with boots and shoes is my feet are wide. And as a sneaker store 🏪 once told me, footwear companies have mostly moved away from offering footwear in size wide, as they lose profitability due to size wide being a minority of the population. New Balance is one of the few sneaker companies to still routinely offer sizes in wide. But depending of foot 🦶 "last" used to form and make a show or boot, I don't always require a size wide. My Pfister boots are like that, regular width. Back to looking for snow boots. I've discovered online that to have good WATER RESISTANCE that if a boot has a Goodyear Welt that a person look for in addition to that a "storm welt" on the boot. Some online recommend adding "Sno Seal" to the boot's leather as well. But I looked at Milwaukee Boot Company's website recently and I see they now offer 2 "waterproof" leather boots. One of those boots has a Goodyear Welt, the other I can see no stitched welt on, the leather tucks under, so, I don't think it is a cemented boot. I'm not against rubber and cemented boots for snow, creeks, rivers, or pouring storms by the way. Cemented soles and non-leather material have their effective place and role. Oh... I also have a pair of Ultra brand running shoes that has a natural foot shaped toe box. Super comfortable! (Pfister is an historic hotel in Milwaukee, every US President stays there, and all Milwaukee Boot Company's boots are named after places or locations in Milwaukee.)

Yes, it’s unfortunate that almost no one is making boots from really really high quality leather… like that I use in my leatherworks for example. My leather sheathes will last generations if taken care of. If someone made a pair of shoes out of the same Leather ice source those shoes would surely last a lifetime… unfortunately it’s just too expensive to make shoes out of because they would have to sell them for $1000 probably to keep their same profit margins

Some companies choose to prioritize profits over quality. It's up to the consumer to do their research and make the best choice for their needs.
