Thank you TacticalBassin! Definitely my favorite channel to watch with my morning coffee. I've learned a lot from you guys in my 3 years of bass fishing. All I had was a Texas rigged worm on a $12 Walmart spinning combo spooled with mono. I didn't know how to fish it, had very little luck. To keep up with my friends, I needed an edge. I found out TacticalBassin is in norcal and would be the most relevant channel to watch. Fast forward 3 years, I have 4 technique specific braid to mono leader set ups on my fishing kayak and last week I smashed my previous 4lb PB and landed a 6.75lb hog.Thanks again and keep up the good work.

I love the Jackall Gantrel! I have had more consistent success with it than any of my other large swimbaits, and I think you touched on why that might be (beyond the color/profile/action). Throwing big baits with confidence is so important and is something that I think all of us struggle with to some degree. Confidence makes a huge difference in success.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH Junior (MATT) I watched this video and got to thinking, so, I started looking thru my fishing log and writing down when caught big bass over thirty years of fishing. I discovered I caught a lot of big bass from June to after July 4th and figured Junior might be right. So, I took a stab at your idea. The first day I threw a big 8-inch China Hudd knock off, I boiled and made the tail real floppy. Copies a Perch pretty good and I threw a big jig and real jumbo pork frog most of the day. I caught bass but nothing to write about; didn’t get nibble on that big swimbait. So the next day I decided to use what caught big fish for me in the past. I caught seven bass most were nice fish. About 11:00 am, I pull up to a waypoint in 12-feet of water. It is a big rock with brush on it. Cast a 3/8oz. Rebel crankbait and catch 4.11, then 5.1, and then a 4 pounder in 30 minutes off that bush. I looked at those fish in my live well and thought I better thank Junior. Today I try again with the Dobyns swimbait 806 and 795 rods tied up with the big perch and the other with Myagi Dream Shad I fished two long deep points. Caught two nice fish with a gold willow blade shad spinnerbait. So, I give Mr. Myagi a go and a 6.4-pound largemouth gobbled his ass up. God must love my old ass. I just quit and sat down in the glory of the day. I looked at that bass in the live well for a while and we talked. I weighed her we kissed goodbye and sent her home. I Put all my rods up ready to go home and start down the main lake. I look over and see this main lake point and decide to throw the 8-inch perch a while. I turn off the motor and sneak in. I caught a big 46-inch Musky off this point so maybe there is another. I cast all around the point from shallow to deep nothing. I move up on the top of the point so I can cast to both sides throwing deep and dragging and popping it up off the bottom. It got stuck on something close to the boat, I was jerking pretty hard, and it came loose. I thought I broke off. Then the line started moving. I reel up and give it a double whammy hook set. It feels like a big cat and then this big green fish blows up with the big rubber fish hanging on the corner of its mouth. Six Pounds two in one day and the first bass I ever caught on a big rubber perch. 6.2-pounds. Thank you for proving old dogs can learn new tricks.

Everyone's bragging on their monster bass, but I made a point of getting my four year old out on the weekend, and he caught his PB bluegill (bigger than my hand) and on the next cast, got a 3 lbs. largemouth on an ultralight, four-foot, spinning rig on two pound test. Not sure if he was more scared or excited when we finally got it landed. Is there anything better than seeing your kid get hooked on something you love and can share? Thanks so much for your hard work and these amazing videos.

Hey Matt I have a thought for you guys. We live in West Texas (Amarillo, Lubbock, and Plainview Texas and have no option but to fish playa lakes. We've caught 5 pounders out of shallow playas smaller than a football field. They don't bite like any other lake bass and we've caught most of our large bass on small curly tail grubs jigging or small minnow swim baits. There's never been research done on the ecology of playa lake bass so I really wish a professional would fish them and give some insight. Would you consider making a video on fishing playa lakes since they're so much different than farm ponds or regular lakes? All of us that live on the high plains would love you for it!! The downside is you can walk around these playas in 10 minutes so watercraft won't be an option. Think "park lakes" in small cities and you've found the kind of fishing we're in around here. Thanks for the best videos and education and I hope one day we get a chance to hear your take on this!!!

Man, was out this weekend and didn’t watch this video... I did score a 3lb+ in a fishery known for 1lb bass though. I’m on the tail end of it, but I guess I need to go out tonight with some big baits and try!
@Whatsinanameanyway135 жыл бұрын
Man I wish I would have watched this before we were out yesterday. Not a bad day by any means, but weather and lake conditions were such that we fished all over the lake trying to put a pattern together in the morning. There was a club tournament on the lake that we weren't involved with, and it seemed like everyone was struggling. Then, about when all the tournament boats pulled off to weigh in, the sun came out and the bite changed. Around moonrise (almost full moon) bluegills started boiling at the surface (primary bluegill forage small reservoir in IL). Marked a ton of fish under the schools of 'gills and started catching 1-3lb bass on dropshot under them almost every cast. Turned into a really fun day (and brought home a nice ~3lb saugeye that I had for lunch today), but having seen this video I would have tried some bigger baits in that situation to try to trigger a giant.

Try the Gantarel Jr.! Giant fish will hit them too and you'll get a lot more bites. Because it's smaller it's easier for fish to eat it. People at Tackle Tour tried the regular Gantarel, the Jr and the Gigantarel and ended up catching the largest bass on the Jr. You'll have no problem hooking up even 1lb bass.
