Myles, you've broken down the mechanics of pistol grips in such a straightforward manner, making the physics behind it easy to grasp. Outstanding instruction. Thank you!

thank you so much for the vids on handguns and the basics on what I want to be doing, i am 32 and live in Alaska, been hunting with rifles and used nothing but a scope for most of my time shooting, I have shot other weapons, shot gun, AR's, but a handgun only a few times, decided I wanted a side arm and felt like I had a well-rounded idea and feel of firearms that I would be good to go, But i would be a JOKE if I said that is all I need. I want to see, understand, and refine my pistol handling. you are for sure a great teacher..... i appreciate you and the crew at Tactical Hyve... hitting that sub button and bell on my way out!

Strong Hand Grip , I am still not sure of the thumb placement of strong hand , over support hand and applying pressure on support hand or not

A lot of shooters use too much pressure with their pinky finger. When shooting one handed the middle and ring fingers should exert most of the grip pressure to keep the gun flat.
@markcmann2 жыл бұрын
I recently had a one-on-one session with an instructor as I have been trying to increase my overall accuracy and he stated that I should have basically zero pressure on the pistol with my strong hand and that all the pressure should come from the support hand. This seemed counterintuitive to me. So my question to Myles is how much pressure on your strong hand (firing hand) do you use for your ‘C’ clamp?
@Matt-mo4gu2 жыл бұрын
I would say to watch it again, but my guess would be a 4/10 on pressure. Not too tight, but just enough to have control over that recoil (recoil happens, but your hand helps absorb it).

I carried the Smith Wesson 1911 PD CT kit until I nearly ripped the frame in half, the old scandium split like a cheese stick from being squeezed through 30-40k rds. I checked my hand strength against some gym rats with a dynometer, mine was 220+lbs per hand, none of them could reach more than 190+lbs with their dominant side. Yeah, the pistol wasn't going anywhere, but make sure you don't literally crush your blaster's handle and magazine or tear it apart while you're jacked on adrenaline.
@5jjt2 жыл бұрын
That's odd that your handgrip strength is so high, as well as some guys at the gym. Alex Honnold's hand grip is about 90 lbs. He's a professional rock climber.
@onpsxmember2 жыл бұрын
Then get grippers 2.5, 3 and 3.5 from CoC and maybe get a certificate if that's something you'd like to achieve.
