Reborn was an amazing update for the game, but OV is just GOATED.

It's pretty friggin nuts how good it is.

I agree, i feel like One Vision is better than Reborn

As much as I love OV, I really don't like Lombardia as a fire sword. It was Wind because that was the closer we had to "sky" or "heaven" in the originals. Light makes more sense since they are Holy Knights. Fire just seems odd. But, In Raics we trust.
@raics1017 ай бұрын
Don't trust me too much, though, it's still a mod in the end and I'm doing it for fun :) In this case some noted that we still have quite a few pure divine units so it might be nice to have the other paladin variant in some other element too, and I didn't mind doing it. I'd say that in modern culture fire is more often associated with holy warriors than wind, because of the whole purification aspect (or 'kill it with fire' memes). Even in something like warhammer 40k, using flamethrowers is looked upon favorably, apparently it's much harder to spread heresy while on fire.

@@raics101 You are a SAINT for working on this mod throughout all these years and I don't want to sound like an entitled baby when this mod is done for free as a passion project. I do get the "holy fire" approach, but since there is an actual Light element in the game that is associated with "Holy/Sacred" stuff, you get wonky things like Brynhild being Light element, providing Augment Light but then also giving "Righteous Fire" as an item usage skill because that used to be Guiding Light. As I said, I really, really appreciate your work as to me, One Vision is *THE* definitive version to play the game, but I disagree the hard pivot to make holy stuff now key off Fire instead of Light.
@raics1017 ай бұрын
@@Iridium-77-g Don't worry, you don't sound entitled, I understand that people like playing the mod and care about what I'm doing with it. As with all features that were requested by a part of the community (and I'm not also strongly in favor myself), I'm taking the feedback approach. If there was a considerable negative sentiment about it, and there are plenty of people who have been around for a long time and aren't shy about telling me what they think, I'd reconsider it. However, the change seems to be accepted fairly well, dunno if it's because paladins were able to use any magic in OB64, or because Lans' sword had no element back on snes, so being air in vanilla already felt like an arbitrary decision. As for Brynhildr, I kinda forgot about it, but giving it a different ability isn't a problem, maybe sacred fist's heal aura would be a good fit.
@Iridium-77-g7 ай бұрын
@@raics101 Yeah, the thing is the Geomancer already has fire abilities as a sort of magic warrior so the Paladin should have been the Light element magic warrior but I see that the White Knight is also covering that niche now. But yeah, the items that were associated with that now are tied to fire as well so I assume that would have to be changed. I really liked Lombardia as a Light element weapon as well as the Paladin having special finishers with the light element and I know this only affects me but my Ravness already had so much invested in light that this change basically changes her build. I'll survive, of course and the mod is still awesome and I love that Arycelle now truly earns her reputation with her new class. I guess I'll just have to accept that the White Knights are now the Light element magic warriors and Paladin/Freya are Fire now. But, nevertheless, thank you so much for your hard work and for your replies!

I played the original and reborn - but never the PSP version. How much of a learning curve would it be for me to start learning One Vision? Keep hearing good things, but an intimidated by navigating all the new complexities.
@CoffeePotato7 ай бұрын
Newbie guide on it soon. It's easier to pick up than it seems. Most of the same rules apply, that's why it feels like a whole new Tactics Ogre game, but still feels like a Tactics Ogre game, if that makes sense.
@Pickleton7 ай бұрын
A lot of the mechanics that Reborn features are things present in the PSP version. PSP version added a whole TON of skills, but hundreds of them are kinda redundant. Reborn addressed this problem by making a lot of the redundant skills either baseline to the classes or just outright removed. OV addressed it by just overhauling everything. Both of these approaches are valid (though people crying about "muh 4 skill slots" are missing a whole lot of information), but I personally much prefer the way Reborn did it. In case I have to mention, because it comes up every time, I said the word "personally" in that previous sentence. It is a subjective opinion and I do not want to hear any shit *ahem*

Can Dark Priest Catiua use swords like in all the key art in this mod? Also, is there a code for each individual class? I really want to mess around with Godhand and maybe the two unique griffons but I don't want to unlock everything all at once.

There's the improved Change Any Unit code, which I think was on the last list? Was planning to hopefully finally weed out and repost the cheats list tomorrow..too many projects, too little energy for everything.

Yeah, she can use swords, and staff vartan from the art is also a thing, usually referred to as 'bonkbird'.

I'm still loving going through reborn, having grown up on the ps1 version. I'm less sure if I even want to try One Vision, the more I read. Taking the liberty of adding new classes? What I'm learning of it begins to remind me of Battle Brothers Legends, which I played a few hundred hours, but the taste was sour, with Legends also doing things like: adding classes and going well beyond the scope of balancing changes and just fixing things that need it. and updating graphics and QoL adds. Why add new classes? Am I overthinking it?
@CoffeePotato7 ай бұрын
Definitely overthinking it. OV is entirely it's own balance. Like the Furia in this case is an oddball bonus class for Arycelle on only one route (or you can make your own through Forgery). It's just an archer with less archer and more wizard, but locked into lightning. It's her getting her "true ending" and getting her Batman persona, more or less. Balance wise it doesn't really make much of a difference, it's just a different tool to play around with. Like I find my normal Longbows or Siege Bow fairy more reliable, but it's cool to have this weird sparky girl sometimes. TO classes have an advantage here, since they've generally been all about their toolbox, rather than being balanced against each other. Plus even unique classes often aren't truly completely unique in their role. Like the Wizard/Archer hybrid could have been a Valkyrie, or a Necromancer, or Vartan, or a Dragoon, or others I'm forgetting by then. It's just a version that's just for her, because of the Thunder Maiden title that's alluded to, but never really shown to be more than a rumor. So, when she gets her revenge, she gets her new custom shoes, so to speak. OV has tons of redundancies for everything, which tends to lead to a really stable feeling balance. Generally units will have their stats and such front loaded, and also don't gain stats from level ups, so extra classes don't mean what they did in PSP. Like I said, it's its' own thing.
