I liked the video. I like to use a southpaw stance lead with the right jab to get them moving to my left, switch stance and shift, then deliver the spinning hook kick with the right leg. Just another setup.

hi im in ITF and im working on using the 360 hook kick in place of the switch spin hook kick that the video demonstrated. any advice or reasons to shy away from this kick counter?

Under the Olympic Taekwondo rules set, this works really well. Obviously this would have to be adapted if being executed under other rules i.e. Kickboxing etc

Giuseppe Molinaro It's obvious that the arm to parry is used against the fast kicks that are used for baits. They are usually never powerful. Watch as he parries the lead leg of the opponent. The roundhouse kicks with power are usually the ones waiting at the back. You can't exactly parry it but you can out "speed" it with a more powerful and lethal hook kick to the head. The opponent may land a strong kick, but if the hook kick lands, it becomes a good "investment" so to speak.
