Saw someone say "it's likeTaemin is singing the part of the abuser and dancing the part of the abused and I can't believe how hauntingly beautiful it is " Try rewatching the Guilty MV from that perspective

Also liked your reaction, to me your interpretations aligned to what Taemin was trying to convey.

Taemin's Guilty MV has turned him into the Guilty Idol of Idols. LATEST: Kpop controllers appropriating Taemin's 2-month-old title song GUILTY for a 4th gen HYBE golden boy. Even non-fans are shocked, wondered out loud on social media, asking why SM sold out Taemin just when he is finally exploding into global consciousness... The answer is simple. This isn't just a cold calculated hijacking of Taemin's soul work. This is Kpop power masters' public whipping of a rebel rouser in front of millions of Kpop audience. Taemin's 2023 title song Guilty MV has a darker layer hidden underneath its viral sexy choreo, and he sneaked that layer through with convoluted editing. He had the audacity to hint at Kpop child abuse institutions! Now top child exploiters are punishing him in hyper specific manners: grabbed his anti-child-abuse song, got young idols to heighten the sexualized parts for viral benefits, made a BIG show of erasing Taemin's name from the HYBE golden boy's cover performance video title and official tweets… to make a LOUD public statement: "shut up Taemin, we own SM, we own you, we own the kids, we own your songs, your soul, and we can erase you faster than CCP erasing rebel rousers, watch us vampire your most beloved song and bleed your heart dry, then we own your tears too." Talk about the devils flexing at a child-slave-turned-advocate. Talk about teaching younger idols a lesson, via the public abuse of their most respected idol of idols. This is not a conspiracy theory. This is corporate bullies flaunting their power IN PLAIN SIGHT. This is Kpop Masters stepping on the face of Taemin, IN PLAIN VIEW. The sadism of bleeding Taemin's heart while disappearing him, is so LOUD, that everyone is silent about it. Who needs conspiracy theories when the public whipping of Taemin is so plain to see? The bullying is plain to see, because powerful masters want EVERY IDOL TO SEE: even Lee Taemin can be bled then erased. Every. Younger. Idol. 3rd gen idols included. They all need to witness the public whipping of "guilty bad example" Taemin. Everyone who's been into Kpop for more than 3 years, knows about SHINee's post-2017 PTSD and Taemin's psychological vulnerability. Yes, Taemin is smiling, being gracious as always, he seems stronger than ever. But the powerful masters are 999999 times more powerful, and they have a history of using abusing vampiring idols to an early demise, and still sleep at night. They will profit regardless. God have mercy on Taemin's current mental state. I say this now, I speak out, in case anything happen, I can tell my conscience I tried to tell people Taemin is being brutally stepped on and he is hurting.

It's real art. It makes me feel guilty, even though I don't understand the lyrics. Yet, this song touches a part of my soul that I didn't even know existed.

This isn’t about the military. It’s about abuse of children by adults, about the abuse of Taemin’s boy character when he was in “school.” In other words it’s more likely about being controlled by adults since he was in 5th grade and recruited by SM. Doing what they wanted. Being who they told him he could, and could not be. The army might have been the tipping point, but that’s all. It’s a heavy topic. And I don’t think it’s a piece one can give its due by just reacting to it. It’s too complex and emotionally intense. It takes thought. Rewatching. Figuring out the structure. Looking at it from frame to frame in places. Figuring out the characters and their arcs. It isn’t just a song. You can’t separate the story, the imagery, the music, the dancing, the amazing vocal. He must have spent many days creating this. Collaborating his vision with others. How can we judge it in one viewing? It breaks the rules. Of course you can do a quick pass and find some way to make sense of it. No harm, really. But my impression is that you went into this ready to use your usual energy and have fun. This isn’t exactly fun, although it’s beautiful. Taemin isn’t who he was. He’s a serious, serious artist in his prime. He’s walking a line. K-POP on one side, TAEMIN the innovator, the gifted communicator, the self reflective artist who has something he desperately wants to communicate on the other. Don’t let him fall. Hold him high. I think his stories will be worth your time. Now back to your regular programming.

I agree, I also interpreted it that way, that he was talking about abuse, in the final scenes you can see

TAEMIN is currently an artist who can combine it all: dancing, charisma, performing and singing at the highest level at the same time. Some idols can sing better than TAEMIN but I'm sure they can't reach his dancing level Some others may have a dancing level close to TAEMIN's level, but they certainly can't sing as well as him. Especially, no one can do what TAEMIN does. THE KING of kings

Thank you so much guys, I thought you weren’t going to get to Taemin. I loved your analyses. Here is a bit of insight; [Taemin shared that 'Guilty' was inspired by the 1957 book 'L'Erotisme' by French philosopher Georges Bataille. He expressed his desire to explore complex emotions, including moments when people find themselves tolerating what they once considered unacceptable.] I might be reaching, but I also think the emotions conveyed in the MV might be from the beginning of his time in the military, before being transferred to public service. You are both awesome, keep the reactions coming.🫰

The MV is about challenging norm, but the story is not just about one period in his life. Taemin's specific idea has been distorted by poorly translated lyrics. The video 'Guilty MV Explained Breakdown' has a well integrated take on Bataille Eroticism, also included fixed lyrics. Highly recommended.

I really like the way you both appreciate his vocals. You feel him, I love it. I've watched god knows how many reactions to Guilty MV and finally found one that actually caught Taemin's drift at first go, bravo! You're right this Taemin and Byul co-directed dramatic tale contains two *very specific* character arcs. You caught the overt layer of the selfish manipulator - that only made sense up to the slow haunting bridge part. The deeper layer has a different character arc. That covert layer is actually the dominant narrative. Everything is explained clearly in Agatho's video Guilty MV Explained, so go watch it and get your head and heart exploded by Taemin again.

I love this song. I forgot the girls name on TikTok, but she actually wrote this song about her cheating ex and his company bought it. I believe she said he’s had this song since before the military. But the way this video spins it to mean something else that still fits the lyrics is so masterful

Right . My first choice in K-pop was Jimin. And second choice Taemin and now I have Ni-Ki too. Just because they really know how to show the music to us in their mouvements when they do the choreography. They are beautiful and very emotional to watch. Now Ni-Ki s vocals are getting really good too so I’m happy.

I think it could be about the mental repercussions of being in the military and living your everyday life as a tool for a fight between governments in which you have no voice, spending all your time and energy learning the most efficient ways to kill people you do not use. nor do I want to hurt (could the phrase "loving you is a crime" be about having empathy and compassion for the "opposite side" in the war) and the loss of childhood and innocence it would cause. We see Taemin looking very anxious while holding the gun at target practice and even taking it out on himself through self-harm (because of guilt??) he (or someone else I can't say) then sets the target on fire at 5 :20, possibly as a rebel?? Throughout the MV there is also a theme of everyone being in uniform or boring clothes, so this is juxtaposed with super expressive outfits like Taemin in a skirt which could be a commentary on how the military steals your self-expression and sense of identity, since you have to wear a uniform, shave your head and follow orders. The first scene is quite indicative of both the loss of childhood (children's photos drawn on the wall) and the loss of self, as Taemin is sitting in a room full of colorful clothes while wearing a very simple outfit. This is just my theory, and I could be totally wrong, I have no intention of speaking for Taemin, especially when an anti-military concept would be very controversial and would result in a lot of hate for him. That hurt expression is unforgettable. It's a strong shock and stimulus. Taemin was the first K-pop artist I was exposed to (and became obsessed with) and he became my first prejudice (now ult) for exactly this reason. Always with you, Taemin. 🫰😍
