My trade is film editing so I can't help but think creative and ROI at the same time. So much heart and soul and money have been spent by so many outstanding artists in one song... Good god, the pain of losing all that investment. Maybe a relaunch? I was thinking. Then I bumped into a fantabulous Horizon English adaptation by a pro writer, guys, we're talking Ryan Tedder quality lyrics here! Guys, what is better than a relaunch is an English version tailored to 1000% Taemin vibe! Eternal is too beautiful for us to just resign to fate. This crisis can be turned into an opportunity...you never know! Don't take my words for it, BPM or whoever, check out the Horizon cover yourself.

I'm a smartwol, I like facts. Fact: Taemin wants English audience. Fact: the most sought after new era Kpop commodity = good English lyrics. Fact: Taemin is West-friendly: authentic, versatile heavyweight, a new world classic. So? Get heavyweight lyricist to give him authentic, new world classic, Taeminesque English lyrics. Easy right? But what kind of English words we got in Guilty and then Eternal? Inauthentic, outdated, niche, lightweight UN-TAEMIN English. We can keep playing ostrich or face the stark fact: The majority of Kpop stock lyricists don't respect Kpop audience - including SHINee's audience. It doesn't matter if they are from Stockholm, LA or Seoul. It doesn't matter why. The fact is they DON'T respect the artist and his listeners. Smartwols like me have tried to warn against such anti-artist lyrics in his next album. Videos, posts, emails and all. For months. Deaf ears. So now, Eternal is conceptually sexy Taeminesque Cosmic Energy, lyrically CJK Tiktok basement Engrish. It is what it is. The obvious next move is - Get a non-Kpop-stock heavyweight lyricist who respects Taemin and his western listeners. - Make Eternal English 2.0 in full Taeminesque authenticity. Then Win Billboard placings. US world tours. Piece of cake. No monsters can stop Lee Taemin with his own Taeminesque English songs superpower. Easy right? LOL.

That's what I was thinking! I got goosebumps singing along to Metamo's amazing English version of Horizon! Now I'm cravin a fantasy Taemin English album...Horizon, DEJA VU (yes!), Say Less, SITA, Guilty, Rizzness, Not Over You, Heaven, IDEA, Advice, Want, Black Rose, Strings and of course Criminal! The super amazing thing about Metamo's English lyrics is you could sing along in English to Taemin's Korean voice and it works! the crazy possibilities? I can be at his LA concert singing to him singing Korean on stage and everything will just jibe and flow! I get goosenumps just thinking about it... I want it Taemin needs it and America will eat it up, it's a miracle that this option even exists, please do it!

This is one of the best MVs I've ever seen. More than kpop, this can stand anywhere in the world, it's so high quality! My sincere appreciation to Taemin, the dancers and the staff!🙇💫🤩

Contrary to popular belief, Horizon is not just a performance song with repetitious lyrics, it has a detailed narrative (super clear in Chinese, which I can read) but I'm not good enough to translate...Taemin put so much effort in this project, and his MV is now just sitting there not moving much grrrrrl. But anyway I've asked my fav Chinese-reading subbers Agatho and Shawolmint to make a lyrics analysis video in English to reveal the richness of Horizon, hopefully they will say yes...

I can confirm Agatho did Horizon total justice in Chinese. Speaking of which, let me share with yall a fun fact. So.... China Bilibili Shawols trusted official watered-down English subtitles too much, they just ENG-to-CHI Horizon and SITA MV lyrics. lol... The result is 2D Papago: the tone is like typical Kpop MV instant noodle cooking instruction, except, no continuity, half were plain wrong. Agatho's Chinese translation of Horizon and SITA were original, meaningful and clear, logical story flow, and artful too. And what is even more interesting, a very tight English adaptation of Horizon confirmed Agatho's translation. (the channel is Metamorphor) You know what drives me up the wall? We have so many talented pros in our fandom, capable of bringing Taemin's music to another few million global fans. I even pestered Agatho into providing Eternal lyrics for free to save Taemin's hacked channel traffic. Yet , here we are.. the great Lee Taemin is singing Daiso Engrish lyrics, while his global fans make do with shampoo instruction tone English lyrics captions, and his Chinese fans are treated like aliens. SMH.

@@MissConceptionOfSHINee Daiso english lyrics lmao! For real, Taemin's music is Cartier but they gave him Daiso watch lyrics! Anyway... given no Chinese CC, most youtube C-wols naively translated from official MV English CC too, never seen such low energy Taemin Chinese lyrics, make me realize how good SM's Chinese team is. Anyway yes, Agatho did good by us. We bilingual-wols (bilingwols haha) could detect genuine Prada-ness in English or Chinese translations, a blessing and a curse. Everyday we see mis-connected wires between people. Then you ask yourself, should I warn them? If I tell them Daiso English is not US export ready will they kill the messenger? etc etc etc lol

@@TMIgeekgrrl I get what you mean, still, I think we're probably the most objective connectors because we can hear both sides and tamper egos. These open discussions aren't very conducive to strategic brainstorming. If I had more time I would post an unlisted video so the select few could discuss secret world domination action plans in the video's comment, but I'm up to my neck in work...

Watching Taemin BigC live today, I had mixed feelings, happy for him happy for J-wols, but also tortured by my awareness of that giant disconnect, that could actually be connected. I wish I didn't know he needs to land in America then I could stop torturing myself lol. Unlisted vid stealth mode sounds good, I'll get to it...

The Fukuoka live Horizon intro moment blew my mind and Taemin was on fire!! I want this song flying high around the planet !! We need English version it's time Taemin go full English songs he is SO READY TO FLY!!!

Facts! This is a 'vibing to yourself on subway ride' or 'stuck in a jam so you yell-sing in your car' classic pop. Taemin came through with the vocals, like always. Even the 'i don't like retro' people gave up soon after and admitted they like Horizon. A properly done English version would hit high on the charts, no doubt about that!

I was excited to see the behind the scenes video because I’m a fan of many of the dancers featured. I also like hearing Taemin’s commentary about his vision and progress. Please include more of that in the editing for the final version of these behind the scenes videos.

日本語字幕ありがとうございます。最後のテミンのコメントに胸がきゅっと締め付けられました。 KZbinアカウントのハッキング被害など、予測のつかない事態が起きましたけど、素敵な作品を作ってくれてありがとうと言いたいです。 Horizonを聴くと勇気が出ます。最後のハ・ソンウンくんですが、大声にビクッとなってるのが驚いた時のテミンくんそっくりでとても愛らしかったです。

Thank you for the English CC. Rest assured that Westerners of all genders all ages everywhere are still discovering Taemin in 2024. Our guy is born with natural universal appeal, believe me. Just keep the communication channels open, improve existing connection quality, we will all benefit from his art and soul... Horizon's sound has proven to have a timeless classic sort of appeal, the MV may have been crippled by circumstances, but please don't give up on reviving it. There is still hope for this number. I enjoyed this bts snippet, hope to see edits of other interesting interactions between crew and cast, thanks again!
