The artist who has featured briefly in WHERE U AT and PRAYER is Teddy Park the leader of 1TYM, a YG hiphop group back in the 90s aka 1st Gen Kpop. Teddy nowadays is one the head producers of YG, he produced and co-produced a lot of songs you have already heard from YG artists, he is also currently the founder and CEO of YG associate company THEBLACKLABEL.

BIGBANG's competitors, hmmm. I would say it was both everyone and no one. There were also big groups during these times and across generations, from TVXQ to Shinee to EXO, who were all equally amazing,. But, Bigbang was and always is a league of their own. Even nowadays and amongst the most popular ones, Bigbang still stands out cuz they are just too different. Also, the best version of Eyes, Nose, and Lips that he did was the one with Rythm Gangsta. You should not miss it.

Super Junior was a group they had head to head competition because they happen to have promotions around the same time. TVXQ is the group I associate them with but they never did any major promotions around the same time neither did 2pm or BEAST

Something about Taeyang just hits in all the right spots: the music style, the dancing, the voice, his adlibs (also my favorite thing in Bigbang songs and live performances). It’s like he feels every song he sings and performs, he’s just so deeply emotive and a lover of music. Still my ultimate bias of all time.

So glad that you are back. You seem to have had a break - hope you are well and it is because you have been doing something good. Really happy that you are not done with BIGBANG yet, as I love your reactions to them. Teddy Park featured in Where are U at and Prayer, with Taeyang. My favourite all time song of Taeyang's is Wake Me Up. I like most of his discography, but whenever I hear that song, I am struck by how beautiful it is. Taeyang completed a master's degree in producing performances and images - I think early in 2017; so after these performances you are reacting to here - but maybe influenced his White Nights tour. His thesis was about BIGBANG's 2015 world tour and standing at the vanguard of the Korean wave, called The influence of BIGBANG World Tour (MADE) on the sustainability of the Korean Wave. It was such an outstanding thesis, that a copy is held at the National Library of Korea (can also be downloaded - but is in Korean!) Btw, TOP has a master's in Theatre and Film and GD has a master's in retail and distribution.

When Wedding Dress was released, it literally the first exposure and gateway into Kpop for me and others I knew way back in my teen years in Canada and Taeyang has been my ult bias ever since! I had recommended you react to it months ago in one of your BIGBANG marathons after you mentioned you grew up listening to RnB music like Usher and Omarion. I also recommended you react to 'I Need A Girl' by Taeyang ft. GD and you should also check out Taeyang's White Night Intro MV (it's one of music's biggest crimes a full version of that song wasn't released)

By the way, before they used to include at the end of a song the preview of the next song from an album, that's why "Wedding Dress" comes out at the end of "Where U At", both songs are from their first studio album "Solar" and when they were released as digital singles if "Where U At" was released first and a month later "Wedding Dress" was released.

Thank you so much for this. Taeyang is my ult-bias in kpop and I'm glad you chose this era to react to first for his mini-marathon. The song 'Only Look At Me' (26:20) was written by Teddy (The rapper in Prayer and Where U At) and was slated for another artist but Taeyang heard it and insisted that he should be the one to sing it. If you haven't watched the music video yet, I think you'd get a kick out of it. ☀👑

Eyes, Nose,Lips Live on MAMA 2014 is a wonderful song, but the whole performance also includes a duet with G Dragon (Good Boy) after this song which is an iconic moment and includes G Fragon dissing MAMA Award. Also it was the only time Big Bang did not perform as a group at MAMA. Taeyang won Song of Year with his song- also Best Male Artist etc....... He and G Draon are abou tthe only 2 Idols to win these awards as soloist, to this day.

When I was starting to stan BIGBANG, Taeyang was my first bias. His voice sounds soooo good I really fell in love with it. His voice completed something in me. This may sound weird to others but, really, Taeyang's voice completed or satisfied something that I was looking for in music. I don't even know what it is but it's there. It happened. Made me feel complete and satisfied. That's why, even though my BB biases changed throughout the years I'm stanning them, I can't help but go back to Taeyang. Who were BIGBANG's competitors when they were out? I think all VIPs are gonna agree with me it's always the SM boygroups at the time but overall the rival will forever be Super Junior. The rivalry between VIPs and ELFs are very healthy now but back then it was something else. Another rival of BIGBANG back then was 2PM. It was just the classic friendly competition between YG and JYP themselves as you've seen at WIN: WHO IS NEXT.

RE: "I'll be there" - "I'll Be There" was released in April of 2010. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" opened in South Korea in December 2009. Probably just a coincidence, right? RE: BIGBANG competition - BIGBANG debuted in 2006 although their breakout hit, "Lies" dropped in 2007. If we are considering the other two "Big 3" companies, SM debuted Super Junior in 2005, SHINee in 2008, and TVXQ, which debuted in 2003, was still active and would drop "Mirotic" in 2008. JYP would debut 2AM and 2PM in 2008 as well. Also, DSP Media, which probably should have counted as a "Big 3 (4?)" at the time, debuted SS501 in 2005. For other companies, CUBE would debut B2ST in 2009, as would MBLAQ from J. Tune (which has not done anything else of note). A fresh wave of boy groups hit the scene around 2012, give or take a few years. This is when the "Hallyu wave" was cresting. TS, arguably the worst K-pop company in history, would debut B.A.P., which had a similar vibe, in 2012; CUBE's BTOB, which did not, also debuted that year. NU'EST, from Pledis, would also debut in 2012, as would SM's EXO and VIXX from Jellyfish. Infinite would debut in 2010, B1A4 in 2011 and BTS in 2013, although at that time, they were the stalking horse of EXO, not the global sensation they are today. Competitors? Hmm..basically it's BIGBANG vs EVERYONE. 😅😅😅 Like, there are big groups in every generation that can be BB rivals but they are all changing and there's only BIGBANG that remained. Even until now with them being inactive. Just dropping their song SL and then ghosting everyone, BIGBANG is still up there. Now if they become active again, just imagine how the competition will be. With so many idol groups nowadays, the competition is already tight, adding an active BIGBANG to it, It's gonna be cutthroat again. That's the difference of competition with or without BB. 🤣🤣🤣
