Fantastic Duo is about shining the spotlight on amateur singers. Taeyang held back vocally and really let her shine which showed how he is egoless and is such an amazing artists. This made this performance even more amazing.

Taeyang was my first ever Bias and he is one of my favorite Kpop singers of all time. I adore him and love listening to his music. You have to react to Eyes, Nose, Lips with Tablo who was also on YG in the group Epik High. Epik High are legends and had a lot to do with inspiring BTS and other groups. Eyes, Nose, Lips TABLO X TAEYANG is a must !!!

As much as I agree with your recognition of Epik High... based on watching a lot of D's reactions, I don't think Epik High is up his alley because they're style is a bit dated (retro?), regardless of how OG and "legendary" they are in the K-HipHop/Rap scene; they're more of a "nostalgic" group regardless if they are legends in the scene. I only recommended this performance because I thought he would appreciate the "vocal flexing" by an off-the-street amateur singer. Even Taeyang's original version doesn't display the vocal flexing that this performance does, and for an "impatient" listener, the original version could come off as a bit too "chill"... this coming from someone that ranks Eyes, Nose, Lips as one of the greatest Kpop songs of all-time.

@@DDoubleDJ Lol. Wait... what? You don't like the D'Angelo inspiration? If you're going to react to the version ft. Tablo from Epik High, try not to go in with really high expectations. Epik High is a legendary rap group in Korea, but their sound and style is really really dated, like 80's/ early early 90's style of rap. They have solid fundamentals, but the cadence and flow isn't anything "special". If you need recommendations of ridiculous K-rappers that can even rival the best US rappers, I can recommend some to you. If you want to check out another version of Eyes Nose Lips, I would actually recommend the AKMU version. They really made it their own song. And, they are widely considered one of the best "indie" groups in SKorea. They are a brother and sister duo that won a singing competition in SKorea similar to a show like American Idol. The amateur female singer's name is Lee Seo Jin. She has a SC music page but YT doesn't allow me to post it in a comment and deletes my comment when I try. Her username for SC is "westdenim". I have two recommendations that might be interesting for you. The first is a group is called Mamadol. They are a single performance group that was formed through a TV program that wanted to give retired female idols (that are now mothers) an opportunity to experience the stage once more. What is amazing about this group is that some of the members have been retired for over 10 years and some even have 3 kids. Their ages range from 33 to 42 years old. They were given a couple months to pass evaluations in order to "debut" and experience one last moment of glory in the limelight before returning back to being full-time mothers again. Also, song was produced by the CEO of Mamamoo's label. Basically, it's a song that shows the an unspoken reality and true feelings between a parent and their child (in this case, mother to daughter, but easily translatable to a son, as well), and how misunderstood the feelings/communication between a parent and child can be. I'm not sure if it's just a cultural thing, but reading the lyrics and listening to the emotional singing tugs at the heart strings and you can see how emotional the female audience members become as they start crying because the song is just so relatable. This video, along with Mel S’s comment about Epik High just reminded me of RM’s duet with Yuiko (not saying they sound alike, but because of the similar format of these tv show competitions). They did a cover of Epik High’s Umbrella for a show call Duet Song Festival. RM really surprised me and it gave me goosebumps.

As much as I like the song Umbrella, it's not an epic song because it's just too chill. There is no vocal flexing like this performance. Yuiko and RM's duet is good, but it's also much less energetic and isn't as captivating as this one. Yuiko and RM's duet is just "easy-listening". A duet that would be epic if it's ever performed live would be Younha and RM's Winter Flower which is just a song that conveys an epic mood based on its composition.

But, based on D's past reactions, his stated preference aligns more with "epic" songs since he likes powerful vocals which is why I only recommend songs that I think he would be interested in based on those preferences. There are numerous times where D states that the "sentimental" ballads aren't really his style, but he can appreciate the powerful vocals that the ballads have. Umbrella is a really good sentimental song, but it doesn't contain powerful vocals, so I don't think it's a song that D will vibe with which is why I don't recommend it. I don't believe in forcing people to listen to songs that I like, I prefer recommending songs that I think the person will like based on their stated preference. This isn't to say that one is better than the other... it's a matter of respecting D's preference and putting him onto some music that he will like, or at the very least, can appreciate and respect.

@@ThinkB4YouType I don’t like to speak on D’s behalf but he has said it’s not really about him, he wants to introduce viewers to new music and if he likes it then it’s a bonus. I also try to recommend things I think he will like, but sometimes I’m curious about what he thinks about other songs.

Lol man I love you both. So yes I prefer something while reacting to to make me say oh my god and my jaw hit the floor but softer songs that make you want to cry are great too if performed right. Now I also don’t really care if I like it or not as well because as stated I want people to take a trip with me especially if it’s a new song to them. If I like it great but if others find it for the first time and like it that’s more my goal. That’s literally how I found reacting in the first place. I watch a reactor @no life shaq who I watch most of his vids whether I know the artist or not and I’ve found so many new artists through watching his reactions. That’s really my goal. I mean I may hate the song but maybe others who watched the video loved it and now that artist has a new fan. And by the way I did another vid after this one but it’s currently blocked and I put a dispute in but if it goes through it’s more low key and the artist literally cried in it and it was amazing 🥲

She is super impressive I do wonder what happened to her. She is an amazing singer. I think I’m weird cuz I prefer the original with just him. Like the emotion he conveyed when he sang the song I feel like the emotion of the song was lost when they started it

This performance wasn't intended to convey the identical artistic emotion as the original song. It was an opportunity to show that an amateur singer off-the-street could flex vocals as good as the best of them. The jaws dropping by other celebrities and members of the crowd isn't for Taeyang because all of Korea knows how good of a singer he is... they are all amazed and in awe of this "plain jane" and her amazing vocal talent. Fantastic Duo was always a show that was about letting the "amateur" shine and showcase their vocal talent, especially when they only get a couple of hours to practice with the celebrity musician they are singing with beforehand.

@@lalapozada7834 Nobody is disagreeing with you, and nobody is saying this performance is "better" than the original. Nobody is saying that you have bad taste. Nobody was taking shots at your personal preference. So, I'm not sure why you're being defensive. It's unwarranted. This is an unarguable OBJECTIVE FACT; this performance shows a much greater "vocal flex" than the original version. Even Taeyang flexes more on this live performance than in the original. The powerful vocal rifts and back-and-forth vocal flexing is something the original version does not have and is incapable of having. Generally, when people think of vocal flexing, they don't think of the "emotional" aspect of singing, they think of "power"... which has been D's stated preference based on his other reactions, and is the reason why I recommended this performance for him to react to in the first place, and not the original. I'm not recommending D songs to react to that I like, or that you like... I'm recommending songs that I think HE would like based on his preferences he has stated in past reactions. So, relax... stop getting offended by nothing. It'll make your life a lot less stressful.
