Taeyang and his group BigBang were the first idol group of BlackPink company YG . They help train the next generations. Lisa was a back-up dancer for Taeyang song Ringa Linga. Leader GDragon has song with Jennie and Rose . BigBang are the idols of the idols. They played a major role in transforming kpop into what it is today influencing everything from how music is made , it sounds , solo careers, fashion , going global. Leader GDragon was the first idol to write and produce music and created the lightstick. Highly recommend you watch BigBang live performances. Try their show at MAMA Awards 2015 . Taeyang AKA SOL AKA The prince of Korean R&B from your favorite kpop group's favorite kpop group BigBang. There was a whole 10 year period where the entire kpop industry just waited for BigBang to innovate so they could copy them and they're still considered the best live performers in history. Their MVs are great but their live performances are life changing. Not joking, it has happened a lot. The most famous example being Jungkook of BTS who decided to become a singer after watching a G dragon performance and being so inspired.

K-pop is not a genre, it's an industry. There are hip hop, R and B , ballands all types of songs in Korean, if a song is in Korean people just call it k-pop. Ideally k-pop should be used for Korean pop songs, but it's a generalized term now.
