Oh my God.. I'm not seeing it, you gave the BF110 a swing.. that was a great treat given so thanks ever so much for that. It's a real monster is the BF110, but of course the trick to operating the BF110 is to not fly it like a single engine fighter, that's the trick I learned over the years.. if you fly a twin engine fighter.. you fly it differently to a single engine fighter.. I learned that with both the 110 and the P38 Lightning in both 1946 and the GB series. Regardless of differences I've had vast tons of fun with the 110 in cliffs of Dover and in the GB series, when you get the fighter bomber tasks in GB you get a vast amount of fun.. mind you.. you do get strong challenges. In various mods for 1946 you can get night fighter campaigns for this aircraft. I can't thank you enough for flying this aircraft, it was excellent.. truly excellent.. great treat.. the best on a Friday night. Give the 110 campaigns a try in the future, you'll get some great moments and challenges but nothing beats the fun of it. Stay safe, well done indeed and happy gaming mate 👏👍

Absolutely. Altitude is Life for a twin engine fighter, particularly a very heavy one like the Bf 110 or the Beaufighter. The way to fly them is to 'boom and zoom' - no turn fighting.
@joeaustin44729 ай бұрын
@@timonsolus Absolutely 💯 correct my friend, that's how I learned the trade when in both 1946 before going to GB. What I came to love about the 110 is the hitting power, the combination of cannon and gun with well aimed shot is devastating to a target, the fighter bomber operations are fun.. real fun.. but in 1946 with the night fighter mod campaigns.. you get a truly fantastic interceptor. You hit the nail on the head there my friend, that's exactly correct 👍👍

@@joeaustin4472 the bf-110 c-6 in the Tobruk expansion for cliffs of dover blitz is such a beast. great memories of blowing the wings off of hurricanes who think they can intercept me lol.

@STS-Dreamer I know what what you mean, that cannon and gun combination never fails to impress. I finished a night fighter campaign in the old 1946 version of this game last year and the great memories of the hitting power of those cannons and guns.. never fails to bring a smile to the face. You played the Tobruk expansion? Awesome stuff, mind you I tend to fly the allied campaign more than the axis, but non the less.. beast is a great description of the 110 in that.. great word description there.

All those planes look fantastic in 4K ! :D And still Taff flys his plane like a Sopwith Pup .. STOP tight turns left or right ! Use boom-n-zoom tactics., no wonder you're losing height and speed... Great video BTW, love the 110.

Personally I'd love to see more Rise of Flight or Flying Circus content! I don't know if they have shorter campaign or single mission options but definitely would love to see more WW1 stuff, perhaps with some of the lesser known aircraft from the period? As always, great vid Taff! 🫡

the 110 is a beast, but you need to sit higher up on the bombers, you got out of position alot and to easy, i would not have turned with the hurrican, still glad you survived it, at the end of the battle of britain only 4 operational 110's where left. i fly alot of 110's in War Thunder sim, and it is a great jabo, but need to find clear skies to climb back up after losing the bombs
@eggy689 ай бұрын
This was a great demonstration of the shortcomings of the 110. I really enjoyed this series, Taff. Nicely done!
@timonsolus9 ай бұрын
Taff demonstrated how NOT to fly the Messerschmitt 110. To be competitive with single engine enemy fighters, it is VITAL that the 110 starts the fight with a considerable altitude advantage (at least 1,000 metres, preferably 2,000 m). Then the 110 can convert that height into speed by diving, and protect itself by zoom climbing after a high speed attack run. So Taff should have taken his flight much higher than the bombers - flying the high escort position instead of the close escort position. (Close escort should be left to the 109's.) Then Taff would have been able to manage his Bf 110's energy state far better, maintaining high speed, and enabling him to keep up with the bombers as they withdrew.
@eggy689 ай бұрын
@@timonsolus - While I agree with the energy management piece, the 110 was still outmatched. He could have swooped in and taken out a few fighters. But then he would've been as useless as goose with a cannon. The 110 was puffed up garbage.
@timonsolus9 ай бұрын
@@eggy68 : If your speed is low in the Bf 110, and you’re in the middle of enemy fighters, the right thing to do is disengage. The 110 is fantastic at diving, so just dive away from the fight and run for home at sea level. But ideally, you shouldn’t let your speed get low in the first place. At high speed, be very gentle with the stick, and avoid hard turns at all costs. (Turning hard or pulling back hard on the stick bleeds off massive amounts of speed in the 110, and it’s very hard to get that speed back since the 110 has low acceleration). If an enemy fighter breaks hard and slips out of your gunsight, don’t attempt to turn with him, just let him go, and convert your speed back into altitude by climbing. Then you can gently roll over at the top of the climb and reassess the situation for another attack run.

08:55 Hurricanes flying in a finger-four formation instead of a "Vic" formation? In 1940? Fighter Command didn't change the training manual until 1942 although some squadrons were using it in 1941 having learned to respect it during the Battle of Britain.
@TheObnoxiousMrPug9 ай бұрын
Definitely a 'Vic' and a fourth trailing Hurricane. In the previous videos in this series, the RAF AI flew in clear 'Vics' as well so it's doubtful that has changed in the meantime. What _is_ anachronistic is the defensive armament of the Ju 88's in the video: single MG 81 and double MG 81Z 7,92mm machine guns. They would have been armed with single 7,92mm MG 17s around the time of the Battle of Britain. The Heinkel 111s in previous videos had later-war defensive armament configurations as well. That's likely due to the aircraft available in the game. edit: The Spitfire Mk Vb wasn't developed during the Battle of Britain either yet. This was the first series-produced Spitfire with 20mm Hispano cannons.

In some countries, the swastika is forbidden to be used for other than educational purposes - i.e in museums, documentaries, books and the like. That's why there is only a suggestion of it on the tail surfaces of German aircraft in this game, which is meant for entertainment and not for education. The game can thus be legally sold in those countries as well. But if you so wish, you can download skins for your aircraft that are fully historically correct, swastikas and all.
@TheObnoxiousMrPug9 ай бұрын
@@michaelbourgeault9409 They're not referring to the _Balkenkreuz_ on the fuselage and the wings, but to the swastika on the vertical tail surfaces. The black-and-white _Balkenkreuzen_ are actually depicted historically correct for the time period. The 'low visibility' _Balkenkreuz_ was introduced later in the war.
