Does ID3Tag or MP3TAG let me embed all TAGS including ISRC code and UPC code? Do all platforms recognize all TAGS? For example, if someone uses your music on KZbin, will it recognize the TAGS and report it to your PRO? I read somewhere that Microsoft does not recognize all TAGS entered in Metadata, rather it more often recognizes Metadata entered as INFO. Also, are WAV files recognized?

I find that Apple Music doesn't like album art from .wav files. Mp3's should show up ok. One thing you can do is add album artwork in Apple Music itself. Right click the song in Apple Music then click "get info" and add artwork there.

This is a great video for anyone populating metadata on single files, or small numbers of files. Do you know if there's a way of populating metadata for dozens (or hundreds) of files at once? This could be by populating from the file name (if the file names contain the desired metadata in a structured format, e.g. title - artist - year - genre - bpm - key), or by uploading metadata from an excel, csv, txt or something. Any info on this much appreciated!

How to do this: How can I use two albums for the SAME song. Example: Phil Collins I want to have in the albums: - American (pop) - Chill-Out Road SOngs I make TWO albums in ONE track with 'MP3 TAG'. However in the car it can only one album (AMerican Pop). WHat can I do the car or laptop can also read the 'Chill-Out Road SOngs' album? How to use the second or 3r album cover in 'MP3-TAG'?
@Solitaire0019 ай бұрын
About the only way I can see to do this the way you described is to make a copy of the song and then update different metadata for each song. I don't know of a way to do it with a single song. One alternative option is to use playlists. Create two playlists, one for each album, and then load the songs into each playlist. I did that for the Carpenters album "Horizon" where I created a playlist and replaced "Desperado" with "Trying To Get The Feeling Again."
@90s-Trance_869 ай бұрын
@@Solitaire001 thanks for giving a reaction!🍻🖒 It indeed a good option so the playlist will be 'Chill-Out Road Songs'. Then all tracks you select will be a chill out road song😎🖒
@Solitaire0019 ай бұрын
@@90s-Trance_86 You're welcome. Something else to mention is that I follow the rule that every album should have a unique name. This came out of a situation involving greatest hits albums. Originally I titled each album "Greatest Hits" and it would be separated in MediaMonkey and when stored on my hard drive. However, when I checked in my player (a Sony Walkman) and looked at the "Greatest Hits" album it fused all of the albums named "Greatest Hits" into one album consisting of over 200 files. To solve the problem I added the act's name after "Greatest Hits" so I'd have albums like "Greatest Hits [Christopher Cross]", "Greatest Hits [Chilliwack]" and "Greatest Hits [The Manhattan Transfer]" and each one would be separated on my player. I extended that to doing that whenever I have two or more albums with the same name, so I have (as an example) "Shine [Bond]" and "Shine [Frida]". Also, if I have two or more different songs with the same name I put the writer's name after the song's name. So I have "It's Too Late [Carole King]" and "It's Too Late [Bobby Goldsboro]". By putting the writer's name it allows me to keep the same songs together.

I don't know why, but if the files are in iCloud Drive, this doesn't work. I mean, if I try to perform this process with a file inside the Finder's 'iCloud Drive' folder, it doesn't work. However, if I copy the file locally, it works. But: the same file, when copied to iCloud Drive, doesn't show the artwork
@jimmymakemusic4 ай бұрын
That’s good to know. I would see if there’s any difference doing the same thing working with an mp3 vs a wave. The art work should embed right into an mp3 and work fine…with wav’s there are no “tags.” So, most tags/artwork are simply “attached” or associated with the file locally, and may not transfer well. I’ve had it work…and not work. Different players can affect the outcome too.

@@jimmymakemusic Is there a problem with using the comment section? Session Studio who have partnered with PPL recommend that you add these in order to make sure you get paid by performing rights societies: The IPI is the code to identify songwriters: If you are a songwriter or contribute to the creation of the song, you must have an IPI number so people know who to pay! To get an IPI number, you need to sign up [with] a Performing Rights Organisation (PRO). The ISWC is the code to identify the song: The ISWC is an ID for your original song, so the lyrics and melody. So, if you or someone else records your song and gets 10 million streams, you will get credited and rewarded if your song has an ISWC. You will get an ISWC code by registering the new song with a PRO or a publisher. The ISRC is the code to identify the actual recording: The ISRC code identifies each unique recording. You can get an ISRC automatically created with Session Studio, or with a distributor or label. There must be a unique ISRC for all recordings on a song, for example an album version and a live version of the same song. The IPN is the code to identify performers: If you perform on a recording of a song in Europe, you need an IPN to ensure you’re fairly credited and receive your neighbouring rights. To get an IPN, you need to register with a Collective Management Organisation (CMO), who collects on behalf of performers, since PROs collect on behalf of songwriters. The IPN represents music performers. The ISNI is the code that brings the other four together: ISNI is a public ID that can be seen by all. By adopting an ISNI, artists, songwriters, and other creators can be unambiguously identified and therefore credited for their work. The ISNI links your other IDs together and keeps track of you as an individual for your contributions, both on the musical work and also as a performer on the recording. Presumably there are no designated fields for any of these in MP3tag? So can all these be added to the comment section instead? If you or anyone else knows that would be really great to find out!

Hi!! I'm using a Sony Walkman A55 and I used Mp3tag to change the metadata for my WAV files. I have a few problems: 1) the album artist shows up as the artist of the song (which isn't always the same person) 2) composer is not shown 3) when I change all this information, it is shown on mp3tag as well as on my computer file but when I transfer it to my Walkman, that information becomes UNKNOWN. How can I fix this problem? I really want to keep using WAV files as they sound much much better. (I don't like FLAC). How can I make the Walkman show the composer and album artist information? Thank you!!
@Solitaire0019 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, WAV files don't support metadata. That's why it is showing up as "Unknown" when you pull of the Detailed Song Information, when you update the information in MP3Tag it doesn't embed the metadata in the file. That is one of the disadvantages of WAV. One of the reasons I use FLAC is that it does support metadata. With WAV files about all you can do is embed the metadata into the song's filename. As an example, you could set the file name as follows: [Album Artist] - [Album] - [Track Number] - [Song Title].wav. As an example: Carpenters - Horizon - 02 - Only Yesterday.wav. Then when you pull up the files on the player it will sort them in order by Album Artist, Album, and Track.

@@MickBrownFolksinger Unfortunately, there is no standard for metadata for WAV files, including album art. If you are using a digital audio player one thing that you could try is putting the album art in the same folder as the album's songs. However, whether or not it will work will depend on the player. I have a Sony Walkman NW-A55 and the album art must be embedded in the song's metadata as a baseline .jpg file, otherwise the album art won't display.
