Burr was on a surprising number of quiz shows. Softened his image I think. He was a wonderfully generous human. A great man.

This was broadcast in 1962. The reason is that Burr said Perry Mason was on a new night-Thursday. The show was on Thursdays from 1962-1965( seasons6-8).

Almost done with season 3. Love it though saying so is probably incompetent, irrelevent and immaterial.

This is from 1962, since Burr mentioned that his show was moving from Saturdays at 7:30 to Thursdays at 8:00.

My family had the 1964 set Of World Book, and it's companion series Wonderful World.

@storrs19 Thanks for your post, storrs19. It's great to hear from another World Book fan. In elementary school I had a 1965 edition. Years later as an adult I purchased a 1982 edition plus the two volume dictionary. Evidently it is still being published because every other year my local public library gets the current edition (the ink-printed-on-paper edition). The elementary school near me just had an open house and sitting on a shelf in the fifth grade classroom was a WB set !

I like the way the set looks in this episode. Always been fond of that wood grain look.

Originally telecast on September 30, 1962. This was during the period when "PASSWORD" was scheduled on early Sunday evenings at 6:30pm(et).

Also the "travelogue" theme music used was from 1961 thru 1963. The Password Swing Them didn't start until 1963.

@wmlfan9 I wonder, do they still print the World Book Encyclopedia? We used to have a complete set from 1967 including the Childcraft series and the two volume dictionary. With everything being online now I imagine most children don't even know what the World Book is.

This is also considered the same day the OLd Time Radio ended as the last two night time drama shows "Suspense" and "Your's Truely Johnny Dollar" aired their final episodes. By The way, since this was a Sunday afternoon (was Allan still doing College Bowl the?) I wonder if this show was live? Joe
@nanlisa12 жыл бұрын
Joe Postove: I never even heard of the other two shows that you mentioned. I don't know if Allen Ludden was still with the GE College Bowl when he got the Password job. But I do know that he quit hosting the GE College Bowl because they wanted to him travel. He had three kids to support, plus his first wife (his childrens' mother) was dying of cancer.

You'd think they'd be required to avoid homophones. Bale and bail are not the same thing at all.
@jubalcalif91005 жыл бұрын
I would have used the word "bond"...after hearing jail, most people would think of "bail"....
@NasrinAhady5 жыл бұрын
Oh it's not finished!
@jimmysudar14 жыл бұрын
it's partly the problem of the celebrities. with bale, they went with bale (a large package of raw or finished material) and then switched to bail (the money to get one out of jail). i'd be confused too.
