The Monoblos also has access to a very powerful first striking attack. Not only can that be incredibly useful in PvP, but it also has a nice little quirk in that it also turns team up attacks into first strikes, which is particularly useful to get a bit more use out of a turn in which your buddy would usually hog all the glory (and potentia head to head kinship boosts) with their finisher. It sounds niche, but it has proven to be useful in that way more than I'd like to admit.

Oh... As a side note I should probably mention that Piercing Attacks work best against this monster so the Damage Output of your Hunting Horn doesn't really matter. You'll only switch to it when the monster is Underground for the Blast Skill and you'll probably want to go back to your Bow or Gunlance afterwards.

When it burrows underground, just use a hunting horn (basarios guitar) , use skill “blast” or use sonic bomb.

Bring a Hunting Horn with a Blast Skill and use Blast when it goes Under Ground. Also, really odd that Tag didn't mention this but it uses power attacks when it's enraged.

Great. I should find a horn with the Blast skill and prep it for when the day comes for me to hunt my own Mono. Any recommendations? I only recall the Kulu Yaku horn, but I am dead sure its damage output is going to be bleah.

@@RenkaKurogane In Rutoh Village the Melynx sells the "Magia Charm" Hunting Horn for 20 Bottle caps. If you'd rather not clear the Everdens (1 or 2 Should be enough) then the Basarios Hunting Horn is probably your best bet; it's the one I used.

You just use the kulu ya ku hunting horn and use blast. Just have it as a secondary weapon and it'll get him above ground. It helps the hunting horn is one of the first you get aside from the iron and bone, so NOT that difficult at all.

You can use the Kulu Yaku OR Basarios Hunting Horn (song type hunting horn) and use the "blast" to do the same thing as a sonic bomb.

So I don't think it's wholly limited to just beating down the Royal Monsters, because I got a Tigrex egg from a random rare den. But I have already gotten one from making the Royal retreat, so I think that may only be a prerequisite in order to add the egg to random nest's lootpool.

I got monoblos out of the ground using hunting horn blast skill and a monstie's skill called roar (i used the right of channeling and gave my tigrex roar from the khezu) and sonic bombs which has the same effect as underground monsters

*FOR DEN PROTECTOR SKILL* once you have cleared the ice map and leave avinia´s area, you move onto the next area. In dens there are Plum Daiymo Hermitaurs---Kill them and you will be able to craft their armor for Den Protector L which is great! It gives more defense than the rathian armor, having 83 defense than 62

You can find Sonic Bombs from chests I think, you can get them by doing trial quests with those rewards and stuff, do subquests for em, and some of the shops have the sonic bombs where you can buy them.

This helped a lot. I didn't see Knifepedia: Paralysis available from the Melynx just yet but I did have a paralysis knife. Unfortunately the paralysis wore off soon after using it but I did make Monoblos retreat with a paint ball. Using the Finding Charm really paid off because I pulled an egg with a rainbow glow. My Monoblos was hatched with Non-Elem Atk Boost (L), Divine Blessing (L), and All-Out (M).

Ok a tips for new players and mid game players who min max like me. 1. the two most important things on monsters is genes and attack type. Element is the lest important thing its at best an extra 15 or 20% damage and early game thats nothing. 2. Most genes dont stack so dont have health up large extra large medium and small it will only give you the highest level version the rest are wasted slots. Also keep in mind some monster and rider buffa dont stack so kinship up gene does not stack with your armors kinship up perk. 3. In most cases royal monsters are not worth it they take a lot of prep and unless you can compliment thier genes with genes they dont spawn with they generally do about the same damage as something like a khezu or jaggi. 4. Early game and mid game genes are your most important item and will make monsters pump much more damage or tank much better. 5. focus the story, till you unlock hardmode at the end of the main story most monsters only spawn with Small and medium genes and other then a few monsters only have small and medium damage attacks. Trust me i get the urge to get everything but most monsties suck from the get go. 6. If you want to farm anything get a nargacuga his unique ability lets you turn invisible and lets you pass up most monster fights. 7. only grind about 5 to 10 levels per zone. you can beat the final boss around level 40ish so trying to reach max level before beating the game is pointless when most your time will be doing post game content. 8. Save vital essense for battles and use heart donuts to restore hearts outside combat. Trust me VE is rare as heck and is expensive to make same with ancient potions. 9. Bottle caps are infinite post game and most armor sets in the black market can be crafted save your caps for expanding your ranch and expeditions slots or buying cosmetics you cant get anywhere else. 10. finally the best setting for expeditions is treasure sense it will bring back more charms and permanent stat boosting items. Keep in mind the stat boosters also work on your main character as well as your monsters and you can use 10 of each on each monster and your self. Early on id say pump em all into your rider sense they are always in combat and the health ups add an extra 30 or 50 hp which can generally save you from dying in 1 or 2 hits early game. Same with the defense up which adds an extra 50 raw defence

I was under the impression that stacking the same gene in different sizes didn't actually help because only the largest will give you a bonus. Like if you have medium, large and extra large only the extra large gives you a bonus. I may be wrong but I'm relatively certain that I'm not. 😆

Afaik pray & charm for the same effect does not stack, as well as genes with the same name but different size, in both cases you just get as active the strongest effect and the others are ignored

Yeah, retreat dens have the same percentages as normal dens, charms can only boost it so much. You just have to keep trying and hope for the best. Also charms and prayers of the same type don't stack. It only calculates the charm so keep that in mind.

TWO WORDS that make this fight an absolute joke: BASARIOS ROCK!!! (Hunting Horn) Use the “Blast” skill when he goes underground as it acts as a Sonic Bomb and when used he gets trapped in the ground and you can wail on him. Just a heads up, the reason your Monoblos’ starting attack stat was higher than Tigrex’s is because you got a +3 Non Elemental Attack Boost when you hatched Monoblos. Just thought I’d let y’all know

Not just that but he has stat adding genes. i think Might (L) is +20 to the attack and the Iron Wall (M) is like +10? But in the end Tigrex and Monoblos should be just about even on stats.

@@TagBackTv Monoblos and Diablos aren't the same monster, in a similar vein as to how Yian Kut-Ku and Yian Garuga aren't the same monster, despite looking similar. Both Monoblos and Diablos can be male and female. Black Diablos are simply female Diablos who are in heat. When not in heat, they appear as regular Diablos. Anyway thank you very much for this video. When I first encountered the Monoblos sleeping in the field, I avoided it like the plague, thinking it would destroy me. Thanks to your tips, I took it on with a bit more confidence and was surprised that it was a much easier fight than the Tigrex. While I didn't get a gold or rainbow egg, I did manage to get a Monoblos on my team, so I'm happy. Thank you so much

I dont think you can save ‘after’ its retreating, the egg in the den will always be the same, thats what happened to me for tigrex though.

you can save after it retreats. I did that for tigrex and refreshed the den like 8 times until I got a golden egg. The egg is different every time.

I managed to beat him at lvl 19 with maxed Tetsucabra armor. Basarios is an absolute tank. Luckily, paintballs did their job on the first try for both him and Tigrex. Edit: I also named my Tigrex Tony :P

Win Win Putra - (pre razawing rathlos) I had renmar, royal ludroth, pukei pukei, blue yian kut ku, qurupeco. I kinda rushed it because I tend to explore the entire map before progressing in the main story line. upgraded my weapons and armor prior to fighting it in the wyverian town. (Haven’t fought rathian yet.) It did beat me down though (had only 1 heart left) made it retreat and got. Went back again to try my luck after I healed my hearts and I made it retreat which got me another.

You have a Might Gene L thats why your mono has a higher base attack than your Tigrex. My Tigrex started out with 50 base dmg it rolled twice in non elemental dmg and has Might Gene L.
