mashallah.....this poem really brings it back home...when people are worried about minor things like exams or relationships or clothes and jewellry we forget to count our blessings and remember those who ask for nothing but freedom...may Allah bless them with patience and hope inshallah....beautiful poem sister

She and Suheir Hammad, they are true inspirations. Their beautiful, spoken, real words, have made me lose one of my biggest fears. Being able to become a writer, and a poet, and a damn good one at that, without fearing about being judged, or ignored because of my name, and no matter WHO or WHAT I am, I and everyone else, CAN be what we want, and rock at it too.

Listen to her words and stop looking at her dress. Her dress form is between her and God, not between her body and your eyes and judgement. Hijab is a progression; people start from different angles, some from the hair-cover, others from wearing looser trousers, but it is by God's grace she and others will choose to cover more and more as they understand and love it more and more. You have nothing to do with her hijab progression. Again, listen to her words. Peace.

Yo guys I am Muslim and I live in the middle east and to be more exactly am in Saudi Arabia, the country of Islam.... and regarding her Hijab please forgive me thats not the way that muslim lady should be with that tight jeans thats just disrespected. Islam doesn't say show your tight ass and cover your hair, what the hell is that.. Astakfurallah alazeem for really i hate this kind of girls that make hijab look unrespected

@zaka213 Al-Islam Here, in the US, Muslim woman have more freedom, justice and equality to practice. Here we can actually attend Salat tu Jamah without being told to stay home. If you ask me the Islamic world could learn a few things from the Muslims in the U.S. I get tired of the media going overseas for a Muslim perspective when they can look right in their own backyard to see true believers.

@zaka213 Al-Islam also doesn't say to critize and disrespect your Muslim sisters either, using curse words etc. Its funny how you said Saudi Arabia is the country of Islam...Al-Islam does not belong to any one country. If I had my choice of place to worship I pick the US over over again. Instead of being so critical and backbitting why don't you make dua for her instead and actually listen to her message...this simply shows that men don't want to take the responsibility of controling their eyes!

@MzSiddiqui hey ,,, about salat Jumah no one got the right to let you stay home if you want to go for pray or even for shopping, look must of the guys in US really got the wrong impression about saudi... believe me must of the stuff you got there we have it and we got freedom but some of the stuff that its not allow from the law of islam yeah its not allowed... name it and I will tell you what you got and what we don't, the good thing about this country is that it give you the limit of freedom.
