When it says "you dont even know you, and I saw you change". That is so true. I dont think Damon really knows who he is. But, Elena is the only one that saw good in him. And helped him open up. She saved his humanity, helped him to not give up, helped him become a better person. And she has saved his life, literally too. In return, Damon challenges Elena, makes her question her life and her decisions she makes, he surprises her, he helped her become stronger, tougher, and more independent. its always different, its unpredictable. Hes always been by her side, and saved her life with or without Stefan countless times. And same for Elena, shes never gave up on him. Yes, they have days where they fight and dont want to be around each other. But, at the end of the day, they know they will be there for each other, no matter what, and no matter how they left things.
