I agree with you on that one, that goes for every culture thing in every race/nation/country. Like, just b'cuz your from Korea doesn't mean your a pro when it comes to tae kwon do. But I have to admit, tahitians does it with more grace, more ease, extravaganza and speed than any other ori dancers, wether they are non tahitians or not.

BTW ppl....i watched this live. C'est magnifique, no kidding!!! For all of you who don't know, alot of the groups out in tahiti have their own new, unique styles as groups become more inspired by past and present, essentially creative. From what i have heard, some traditional dances did permit women to dance with their feet apart a bit more...as well as the rolling of the stomach (ori opu). In my opinion, this girl is very much a tahitian dancer by blood and heart. MANA is what matters most.
@iLaNdGuRLL14 жыл бұрын
WHAT are you talking about? this is tahitian.. dances sometimes evolve too. everyone has their unique style of projecting creativity...and this girl is TAHITIAN. no need to look down upon. she did very well with much grace and beauty. and btw, it wasn't even close to a strip dance! What matters is how much mana she possesses in her art. still, tradition is key. but it doesn't mean that no one is free to let their mind flow with expression

Very graceful. Does anyone know if she's danced in Hawaii or the mainland States?
@kilipaki87oritahiti13 жыл бұрын
@iLaNdGuRLL I agree:D Some would maybe call this vulgar or to modern, but I'd say it's the opposite, the thing w the Ori in the US, it has been too Americanized for competition use, so what they call modern, is how our ancestors used to dance, bc they danced more freely, and more creatively than today, bc they told a story! They didn't have any written alphabet, so when they danced, it was all said through dance, and no words:D NATURAL!

Well, this is a real tahitian dancer in Tahiti with true Tahitian moves. For those who says it's not Tahitian, then wad is it? Who knows it better than them? Huh? She's a great and a very beautiful dancer with graceful movements. Unlike here in the U.S., we r trying to copy them and criticize them with their own culture? NAH! THEY KNOW BETTER than us here in the U.S. Many girls here in the US are really good in farapu, but as graceful, not really. MAHALO!

The reason Tahitians are better at that dance is cause they have to take it in all the years they go to school...They have to perform a graduation dance at the end of they're schooling...it's the same for Tongans and Samoans...it's to preserve they're culture...

tongangirls Wow, I didn't know that! No wonder they're so good.

not to be rude, but just b'cuz it's your culture doesn't make you an expert, just saying=) Just b'cuz I'm Norwegian, doesn't mean I'm an expert when it comes to skiing even tough we are known for it, but of course it's my culture, so I know how to...
@kilipaki87oritahiti14 жыл бұрын
@autreeisthebest I agree, it's b\cuz of people like him that many cultural dances where banned under the colonial times. I bet he got turned on, and therefor had to bash her! Lol! What is it with people like him, they only see SEX! Jeeze!
